Well, the reason folks are looking for a definition is because the claim was made that FFXIV needs open world content, when it obviously HAS open world content. Folks have provided all kinds of examples, FATEs, Treasure Maps, Beast Tribe quests, and yet somehow these don't qualify. So, folks put forth their opinions on what REAL open world content is, and we get six different answers from five different people.

One person provided FFXI's "Sky" areas as a perfect example, and just off-hand I can think of ways that's both awesome and horrendous, with hours camping Zipacna or Ullikummi standing out in my mind for the latter. So, what part of Sky is the perfect open world content? All of it? I must respectfully disagree, and I'm actually in the camp of folks that agree open world needs more meaty content.
