    While true, it technically was also "base game" as the storyline lead up to it - So it wasn't just an expansion zone, it was eventually a story arc area, you know, like most FF games. The only zones that come close to that here are the coil zones and that's only because it's ironically continuing the story of FFXIV 1.0 - 1.23c.

    The funny thing is, 'lottery nms worse than fates' is the only thing that gives XIV's world a reason, FATEs. Otherwise you could make a bunch of cities and connect them via teleport and you're missing nothing.

    Dailies, teleport there, kill X, teleport out
    Treasure hunts, teleport there, dig, kill, teleport out
    Zodiac quest teleport there, join X fate , hope for the 1/10000 chance of atma, teleport out
    What the poster was talking about were things that made Xi great, being able to just port there and port back out 10mins later doesn't cut it

    I loved sky loved sea but hated abyssea in XI, and none of the great things in Xi show any sort of sign of moving to here sadly

    And Yoshida, and Team, are trying to deliver that. Little by little. And they sometimes cannot acknowledge certain things because they may already be in the works. ( i know wishful thinking)

    I do agree with OP more and more Open World content would be nice to have, I guess I'm just being a little more casual about it than most. Because i'm happy with it

    So you want the game to be fundamentally changed? That's just not going to happen. Porting in and porting out isn't going to go away and if you are sitting there expecting it to, then what exactly are you doing?

    There's already stuff like Behemoth/Odin, treasure hunts, FATEs(ugh) etc in the open world. Your issue is people port in and port out to and from them? It would enhance the experience if everyone was forced to run there?

    As I say in every one of these threads:

    As the servers become more powerful, the open world content can increase. Currently, there is a balance between being able to deliver open-world content and keeping stable servers. They are offering bits of this kind of content already and I imagine it will continue to grow as they gain revenue.

    Server-side processing is expensive, but client-friendly. It's one of the reasons the system req's are lower.

    funny thing is once this thread gets deleted we will get blamed for saying there is already open world content in game and that we will get more as time goes.

    because they can't grasp when they call out devs make demands and say things like the game has to have this to be good or survive that's the reason why they are locked and deleted.
