    What the poster was talking about were things that made Xi great, being able to just port there and port back out 10mins later doesn't cut it

    So you want the game to be fundamentally changed? That's just not going to happen. Porting in and porting out isn't going to go away and if you are sitting there expecting it to, then what exactly are you doing?

    There's already stuff like Behemoth/Odin, treasure hunts, FATEs(ugh) etc in the open world. Your issue is people port in and port out to and from them? It would enhance the experience if everyone was forced to run there?

    Porting in and porting out can easily be changed. Doesn't have to be changed for existing areas but they could easily make a new open world area that's "too dangerous" for the npcs to set up a camp and aetheryte there.

    As for the others that don't understand what the OP means by open world content for some reason, he's essentially asking for a open world dungeon. An open world area or areas that's filled with monsters you can't just casually walk by without having to worry about being killed with some difficult boss monsters that spawn every now and then that actually drops something useful or desirable.

    Open world content is one thing. You are asking to have teleports removed, which frankly I don't see happening ever. Even if they introduced NMs, you would still have the same teleport issue that you have a problem with.

    Please don't tell me I am saying something when nothing in my post dictated that
    I would just like the OP have a zone that didn't have safe havens every few meters, and that you had an entire area to farm, explore that wasn't connected to a fate

    The perfect regular open area for me would be like the road between the tiny town in North Shroud with the aetherythe to Hysthmill taking the other road where the knights are, that's a harder trip even for 50's, you can get links on your way and find lots of aggressive mobs, if the areas had that difficulty would feel a lot different, the op didn't say about the teleports but I would love if SE reduced the number of aetherythes, would be enough getting 1 or 2 per general zone (Black shroud, La Noscea, Thanalan) somewhere in the middle so you have to use the maps a bit more, I really like the look of every zone and its a waste not having a good use for those.

    A sky area would be awesome, especially if they made it a hard open area, where you need to be careful and preferably with a party, they could add fates there that could have NM's like chimera that could drop some items to pop a big bad ass NM

    Where the only connecting issue between each of your points was "teleport out." It was not in any way unreasonable to suspect your entire complaint was with teleporting. If that was not your intended complaint I challenge you to user your words and explain it better.


    I think everyone in this thread needs to chill out. Some people just want to split hairs of there individual definition of open world content (despite the fact that open-world content seems pretty self defining), some people want to complain or defend the existing content, some people want to keep touting FFXI's EXPANSION content as some sort of golden lamb, and some people just want to watch the world burn. It doesn't really matter. The game is only 7 months old people. Clearly the last two patches added open world content, and in interviews Yoshi has expressed that he wants to add more open world content. To everyone complaining I say this. You are indeed getting what you want, but you need to have more patience. Rome was not built in a day, neither was FFXI, and neither will FFXIV.

    Nice of you to monitor my posts, however I still never said I want teleports removed, I was agreeing with the OP about a zone that isn't a safe haven every few metres, that around every corner could lurk danger that requires more than one person to kill.
    Doesn't mean I want teleports removed, so please keep your monitoring to yourself, last I checked the forums do not have a post police that aren't hired by the company

    I'm sorry but when did following a thread, that consists of a conversation, suddenly become monitoring? I saw you lash out because someone called you out, and I agreed with the person you lashed against. So I felt compelled to hop into the conversation and support what the other person said.     Not once in your original statement do you say one think about the zone being safe, or having a safe haven every few meters, or danger lurking around any corners, or even that it takes one person to complete it all. Each point made consisted of [Content type], teleport in, kill x, teleport out]. Not one sentence about any danger or safe zones. So as I said Garolan. If you want us to understand you then please use your words. For you did seem to be completely complaining about teleports.
