EDIT for Question: How were the zones different back then? Where they bigger?

EDIT: I can't post any more today? I've reached my daily limit or my MAIN CHARACTER isn't high enough level? WTF is that all about?
The zones were quite a bit different. Basically everything was seamless. In Limsa Lominsa, you'd run the entire length of the bridge and be inside "middle la noscea," near Bearded Rock. You'd run on foot up to Skull Valley/Aleport, could keep going from a path near Skull Valley up towards Bronze Lake (wasn't a lake back then) or to Iron Lake (was beautiful, no Kobolds except up a ways on the eastern side of the lake). They were still discrete zones, and basically everyone learned to wait a few seconds when passing through one of the invisible zone lines because it always took a second or two for the mobs to appear on your screen. Many an adventurer has died zoning in to the old Moraby Bay area and finding a newt spawn on top of them out of the blue.

That was part of the problem though. Because the maps were so huge (they were seriously huge) and because there were all connected with no loading screens between them, the devs had to copy paste a bunch of features. La Noscea had this one double rock hill thing that was EVERYWHERE.

I still miss it though. Coerthas was my absolute favourite. I hope and pray that Riversmeet came out alright.
