Personally, I finished my Atma with the mindset that it'll be atleast on par with or even higher than High Allagan Weapons, but to my surprise, even Gerolt's weapons are greater than Animus (with the current set of items available ingame).

After seeing this trend, I li-low'd on farming and think whether it'll be worth my time to continue collecting the books for the upgrade.

Imagine you need 13,500 myth or 270 Brayflox HM run (If you're doing Speed Runs, 8-10 minutes each) for all 9 books. That's alot of farming for sure, while the reward is only on par with the Weathered version of Gerolt's / Levi EX weapons.

Edwin: That estimate too, though, is based on the idea that the average casual player is enthused about this system. You can probably triple or quadruple that guesstimate for your average casual, if they can even be bothered to put up with such a system at all.

The more I think about it, it's easier to get a Leviathan weapon than this; after all you can buy EX Primal carries. You can't sell the grind. What's in it for an Animus weapon right now is far beyond what a casual is willing to put up with in any reasonable amount of time, IMHO.

FWIW, I think it's meant to be an alternative high level weapon; High Allagan probably won't be a viable option until very late into the current patch cycle; it's a matter of stat weighting and preference in your build and it's something for the future, because the current competition in weaponry eclipses it now, but probably has no further upgrading potential when new content comes out.

Nothing wrong with that but don't try to assume what other players actually think about it. You know what assuming does.

It also definitely does work with other people because I play with a decent size group of "those people". So, sorry to burst your bubble about that misconception that there are many people out there that actually just play for fun and to help other people and don't really care too much about reaching end game as fast as humanly possible hehe

Sure being more powerful has its benefits but life just doesn't revolve just around that.

Well there are other things I would have considered but right now I'm not certain about those ideals until 2.3 hits when both the ilvl 110 Relic is released and CT 2nd raid is released.

Once 2.3 hits we will start seeing some kind of alteration to current Relic Quests that could atler SE expected rate of players getting their relics at a 6 month timeframe.

As of now it seems SE plans to make Relic something players should only work towards only for their 1 Main Class/Job they plan to use for the majority of their contents.

its only been 1 week, an many people have already finished atma, an several have started the next phase. The OP said himself he is alread 3/9 on books, on another thread i just read a min ago, somebody said they were on book 6 or 7, there is a few people in my fc that are on their 3rd or 4th book. I think it is a bit early for ya'll to claim its going to take 2-3 months. And dont worry, in 3-6 months it will be nerfed so that everyone else can catch up in 1 day.

What makes you think they will be doing just dungeons? There are other ways to earn it. I haven't even tried to earn myth in dungeons and have over 400 (last 6 days) and 70 soldiery tomes just by daily beastman and group treasure hunts. Happy enough earning 60-90 myth an hour on treasure hunts.

What the man say is effective farm, 8 min is what you need to farm in brayfox for 50 myth tome and that is so far the effective way to do. And I am sure you are aware about the OP point that the animus wep take to much time to finish but it is weak crap, the wep are only ilvl100 and that is not even 2nd strongest wep at the 2.2.

And leave your casual & hardcore opinion a side pls, it is not what we talk about in this thread

I know for myself, I've been a bit hardcore with it, spending 5 hours to cap myth. I'm not sure if everyone has that kind of time to invest lol

When you talk to the NPC she only have 4 books to sell you.
But that's because they are book-serieses and you can't buy Book of Skyfire II without completing Book of Skyfire I.
All books are available though.

The exception to the rule is the books for PLD, as those are divided into 7 for sword and 2 for shield.
4 book-serieses for sword, 2 book-serieses for shield.
That means 6 available books, as is mentioned when you do that part of the quest.

All in all the grind here isn't too terribly bad but I can agree. I've been thinking the very same thing as I work on my books and grind out myth as to whether or not it's actually worth the time and effort. All I can say is after 13,500 myth tomes, dozens of hours invested, and whatever comes next after animus this Zodiac weapon better have a damn aftermath effect on it or something to that nature. Otherwise I'll just move on to coil weapons.
