No, it was always at that level. Tools are tools. Numbers, such as ilvl are just numbers. It's people that abuse a system. And it's other people who RESPOND to that abuse that makes it worse.And if I agreed with everything Blizzard did, I might still be playing WoW instead of ARR.
There are many people who feel Gearscore marked the beginning of a clear decline in the quality of WoW's community. Elitism will always exist, but suddenly it was taken to a whole new level. If Blizzard had taken a stance on the issue like SE's devs are here, perhaps things might have been different.
