    Add iLvl to "Examine"

I don't know if this has been suggested before already, but I haven't seen it yet so here I am.

I don't understand why you can't see somebody's ilvl in the examine window. If you can see it on the lodestone, and you can find it out by doing some math, why isn't it there? I feel like it would be an easy quality of life fix, in my opinion at least.

Though if there is a legit reason not to put it in game (but put it on the lodestone) then feel free to shut me up.

I can only assume it's so people can check party members during dungeons and trials, to see if they're "suitable".

Is it just me that sometimes likes to see what somebody's ilvl is? Maybe if I'm comparing myself to another DPS, maybe if I want to see how far ahead of me some of my FC friends are, maybe I want to know exactly why the level 50 paladin in my Stone Vigil group is dying faster than I am (his ilvl was about 28 after I did some math, btw) so I could tell him the reason, maybe I'm a leader of a FC that has a minimum ilvl requirement, maybe I want to know why the party kicked me in favor of the other Dragoon, the list can go on and on.

Not necessarily. That's why we have a party finder. However if I do happen to be in a dungeon with somebody that I joined via the duty roulette and someone is doing really poorly, I'd like to know if his gear is the reason so I can recommend he advance it.

This is the only real reason. It's not needed and it would only create conflict.

ilevel doesn't mean much honestly. Accessories are minor stat boosts and they radically affect the number.

You only need to look at 3 pieces to measure someone's gear. Weapon, chest and legs. That makes up about 70% of their total strength.

With the addition of glamors I can no longer trust the gear I see on a character. Sure, I can select each member an examine each piece of gear to get a gist of his/her iLevel, or they can just put the iLv number on the examine screen directly. As long as we have battles and systems in the game that limit the iLv for instances then we should be allowed to know that number at a glance quickly.

you are one of those people who discriminates new players when they join instances that have lower levels right?

i can imagine rage quitters who check the equipment of the other players before beginning with the fight or instance..
Yeah, I also read "recommand he advance it" as "So I can either kick this person or rage quit".

Yeah.. at least with the current setup people liable to discriminate against others on account of their kit (despite meeting the minimum S-E already set) instead of just rising to the challenge, have to take a little extra effort before they can start making 'recommendations' (which you really must be naive if you think will amount to more than 'sod off' in the majority of cases). Be it looking at their gear and either doing the maths or making an educated guess, or, y'know, asking.

What we have now is as nice a balance as we're ever going to get with a system that relies on Item Levels at all. I'm certainly against adding some sort of average to the Examine window; and that's not even getting into the inappropriate weighting for many items compared to their actual level of impact or lack thereof.
