    I'm going to guess that anyone who complains about the way to get the Atma upgrade never played XI... Seriously, grinding FATES is fine with me, it may be a low chance of getting the drops but it's much more likely you'll eventually get them than it was in XI, most people gave up hope of ever getting one because you had to dedicate your life to the game to stand any chance of getting one.

    People are just used to having things handed to them, if nothing is a bit hard to get, then nothing will ever be special in the game. There is always an element of luck in getting loot its just the Atma requires much more luck and rightly so!

    If I see someone with an Atma my first reaction now is " ooooOOOOO! they got a nice Atma, shiney! they must have worked hard for that!" If it was easier i'd be like "Meh I can get one of those"

    My FC mate got his atma's on release day my other FC mate still has none after hours of grinding, while I only have one -_- this is not fun in anyway! it is not refreshing or exciting and for the ppl that have wasted countless hours only to have nothing still, its very, very aggravating.

    Ppl don't want the atma's handed to them, they want to know that their time grinding will eventually have some reward! at this point its all been based on luck......how is that fun to you people? yea im having a blast sitting in fate party watching lucky few get their drop while others suffer for hours on end to get their or end up stopping from frustration.

    Random people shouldn't have a relic, it's why they set "steep" requirement.
    Didn't people complain about how everybody and their mother got a relic ?

    Because people want a challange and a reward that actually means something, but when they finally get the option it's suddenly to hard and it's ruining the game and people want their atmas right now.

    OP here. It seems a few people in the thread have brushed over the majority of what I said and are just throwing the same complaints out we have had since 2.2 launched.

    So to elaborate on my original post, if you bothered to read the whole thing you will see that I was complimenting SE on the introduction of open world content in general, not just the Atma fates. I suggested the implementation of other systems in addition to FATEs, aswell as proposed ideas for other types of open world content.

    The point is this: The new Relic upgrade quest might not be exactly what you were hoping for, you might find elements of it tedious, but if you cannot recognise SE's willingness to try new approaches to delivering content, and attempts to listen to the community, then you will be in part responsible for every new patch being nothing but a coat of paint. Instead of frothing at the mouth and yelling in all caps "THIS SUCKS RNG AW HELL NAW!" then why not stop and make suggestions of how SE can make better open world content?

    If the majority of you get your way, SE will just close the lane off altogether and you can go back to complaining that there isn't any reason to leave Mor Dhona.

    Great post. I agree. Initially I balked at the Atma FATE grind - it still is boring to grind FATES - but the more I thought about it, I came to the same conclusion you did: It's content that's Open World, which is a *good* thing IMHO.

    As for how to make the Zodiac Weapon / Relic Upgrading more interesting with Open World?

    Overall it seems like the team simply didn't have enough New Content / Venues to really develop the "True Relics" we're working on: If you look at a previous Final Fantasy, I loved that you had to get your upgrades battling in a foreboding, moody *High Level* (more Challenging) environment (like Dynamis-Xarcabard). In the early years, this was still a challenging set of areas to battle in with 64 players, and there were multiple objectives so there were many things to do, even if you didn't care about grinding currency (a requirement for Relics).

    I loved how you could take a Side Path and fight a hard Notorious Monster that could drop a key item you needed (and you needed the help of many people) to get your Attestation of [Might, Justice, etc.], etc.

    I hope we get more interesting challenges as our Zodiac weapon develops that have players take on real challenges.

    It seems like Yoshi P made Coil Weapons a drop from "the hardest dungeon" and split off the concept of "Relics" to be an alternate timesink you do that's more "casual friendly"? It feels like it should've been making the Real Relics tied to the hardest content in the game, and having Other Weapons (slightly less powerful) be rewards from other venues.

    This, I have never been this challenged in all my gaming life, this quest put my ability to press 1 and even sometimes 2 to the maximum test, I mean I even had to move from place from place and it was tough. I feel like I'm a super expert player now, Twintania was cake compared to this great challenge!

    I agree S.E even threw in more lag to make the game more challenging. Isn't that what everyone asked for? More challenging?
