BOOOOOO DevTeam for this.
BOOOOOO DevTeam for this.
I am sure in the next major patch release, they will release stronger weapons and make it hard to get while making what we have now easier to get. Right now, I am gonna take my time doing other stuff... looking forward to the grind tbh.
There were certainly some asking for everything in that sentence with the only exception being the FATE part. They were even asking for the unmentioned rare drop part. These forums should be ignored for the most part when it comes to suggestions and Yoshida should continue making the game he would want to play.
This is what I think, you want a easier way to acquire alternate high level weapons that take no skills whatsoever, then obviously there is going to be a ridiculous grind. Actually its not even that bad of a grind, considering some people already have these relic upgrades on my server. That's what?? 2 so days since the new 2.2patch went live? and its already possible to attain... And 2.2 stuff is post to last how long? till 2.3? 2.4? 3months? 6months? I think the problem with fate grinding is how random these drops could be. I've heard it drop for people who just started their first fate in a zone. and it doesnt just end there! they get it again in another zone just maybe 10min into the grind. Sure the 3rd one or 4th one or 6th one could take hours, but I dont think people see the actual time it take to get all 12. I dont know, just too much cry babies these days.
Reeks of 1.0 stalling. Hamlet, and that laughable excuse for content with the Imperial invasion events come to mind. But at least the former took a modicum of skill, complete with unique mechanics. FATEs, however, have always been a numbers game, and sadly nothing more. I daresay it is one of the least cognitive things to do in this game. I likely would have snapped if I didn't have a second monitor to focus almost all my attention on, while I half-assedly ran around zones hitting things within blue circles. Which is precisely the problem here.
If something to grind on is horrendously dull and vapid, yet has gracious RNG implemented, that can be forgiven relatively easy.
If something has incredibly steep levels of RNG, yet is entertaining, that can also be forgiven easily. To me, Hamlet fits in this category.
If it is both dull, and also possesses very poor drop rates, as long as you are given a sense of progression for doing it, even that can be forgiven.
This FATE grind is somehow not only boring beyond any reasonable means, with spartan as all hell RNG, but there is no progression if you did not get it from the FATE you just did. It is a gambler's fallacy to think just because you have been grinding in a single zone for over 3 hours, the chance is somehow greater it will drop. Your chances are no better than when you just zoned in and did your first FATE. It has nothing of appeal, so it fails as a mechanic.
The FFXI relic comparison doesn't really hold water, because from doing Dynamis, myriad currency, crafted items, mountains of currency, attestation, currency for days, they all, for the most part, always had a sense of progression. With the exception of the final stage in Xarcabard, pretty much everything you did concerning the relic quest was a step in the right direction, no matter how minuscule it was. This FATE nonsense, on the other hand, is the equivalent of rolling several dice. If they all land six, you get to progress, anything else, you are no better off than when you started x hours ago. Probably worse for it, considering you've wasted so much time for what amounts to nothing, unless you really care about FATE achievements.
The new crafting tool requirements are fairly grueling. 50 HQ Silver Brocade, another 10 HQ for the Spectacles, that is 120 Twinthread I need to manufacture. But it's not something to really bitch about, because every success is one step closer to the goal. I can see the finish line in the distance, rather than flailing around blindly in the dark for the exit like these FATEs have people do. It's just a terribly poor mechanic, and it is baffling to me why people are defending it.
I would rather go to kill Titan EX/Twintania 1000 times than grind the ridiculous low level FATE!
I like this system. I have 0 issues with it. I find it gives me some time to solo and do my own thing instead of being in dungeons all day trying to max out my tomes for the week... and it really doesnt take that long.... I already have 6/12 atmas and Ive only spent one day...
Careful with that statement, lest you invoke the wrath of the less lucky ones.
Aside from that, yeah I don't mind this either. Got myself 4/12 last night, let's see if tonight will be kind to me and hand me the rest.
Felis catus
Yeah 100% that. And I'm happy SE made it happenI like it very much because when you log in and have only an hr or so to play you can just do some FATEs and hope for some luck. It brings you further then some stupid Bear tribe quests for a mount at the end ^^
