2.2 Retainers via Microtransactions

We do not have to "deal". We can express our feelings about it and encourage SE to change their minds about their model for implementing additional storage. That's called responsible consumership, rather than being a doormat and letting companies walk all over you.

Yes, it is by definition restricting access to additional inventory space, market board space, ventures, and who knows what else, because you cannot access more unless you pay money.

I don't care if they give you the choice of having 1,2or3 retainers throw microtransaction or not.

Like I said people should cool down, really, it's allways drama here in the forums and meanwile in the game you have 500'000 guys who're playing without the need of going to the forums and cry.

Well obviously, the forums are the place for people to voice their opinions about this game. I may log in to the game to play, but I wouldn't start shouting in Limsa my grievances with the game, because it's not the place for it.

If you're that offended by the idea that people are going to voice their opinion about FFXIV related information on the FFXIV forums, I really don't know what to tell you.

Well when I was a kid my mother used to put punch/soda into a plastic form and a wooden stick in it and leave it in the fridge to make me popsicles.

lol, don't worry about it. It just seemed as though you were against people voicing their negative opinions in the post I quoted. Personally I think people voicing negative opinions can be a good thing at times. In some cases it can actually shift the course of a product (example: Xbox One).

Most likely nothing will come of this discussion, but if enough people were to complain, and SE decided to change their course of action and refrain from offering their future bonuses through microtransactions in order to keep their user base happy, I doubt too many would complain.

Actually Lotro sold a booster pack for shared bank storage before it went FTP. FFXI did too if you count paying the extra $1 a month for a mule character. FFXIV 1.0 did as well with the $1 a month per extra retainer.

Extra retainers was planned, but never came. First the payment service was delayed until january 2012. Then the dev thought they can just let it be with 2 free retainers until ARR because old XIV end soon anyway. The idea was that the retainers should replaces the mules that was known in XI (that also costs 1$/month).
But there was still the option to buy an extra character slot for 3$/month and use the retainer in an empty market ward to sell the items for 1 gil to yourself for item transfer between the characters.

The point is, you pay for retainers to gather for you, whereas otherwise you would need to put the effort yourselves.

It's like I can walk a block and get home vs. I'll ride a taxi to go home.

The 2 free retainers can do this also. Where is the problem?
What give a paid extra retainer to you that a not payed extra character with 2 extra free retainers can't? Except a simpler way to transfer the items between them?

For me, I would buy 1 extra retainer. Not for venture, nor for selling stuff but for putting in all the gears I would find to save them up for glamour because most of them would be character bounded. Everything else I can hand out to the other retainers on my other characters like I do already with all the materias.

I remember setting up the payment plan for it in the first 30 days. They may have switched it after the free time period but I had 3 retainers on my main. So yes it was an option even for a short time.

Then again many do not know about these upcoming changes since they don't camp the forums.
