    Irony: There's a hell of a lot of lore ties to Vana'diel in this version of FFXIV than the last version, so technically you're already playing XI-2 in a sense. When you review every story and lore bits as of 2.1, you really wouldn't be surprised if SE states that Hyd. is Vanadiel far in the future.

    However, it's more along the lines of:

    Bring back meaningful dungeons..something that you could actually explore and have purpose other than hallway a - hallway b and kill boss and leave instance.

    yeah, these were those sad sad sad versions of open dungeons we had in 1.0. THey were nothing as good as the ones list in the op.. they were but shadows compared to the greatness of any open world dungeon in FFXI..

    Tupsi has the idea.. and again.. there are many ways of building these and avoiding the abuse... make certain things pop with items.. make the badass items they drop u/u.. make it so that just going into these areas and exploring is enough! make it so there are farmable materials in here... make it so a quest sends you here to collect some items to open a door to a boss that drops u/u items.. i mean this abuse argument is without thought... because its easy to get around...

    I was just injecting v1 open world dungeons because we don't need this to be xi reborn is all. xi was great before abyssea destroyed it but frankly there is a lot from xi I can do without. camping 24 hr pops just to loose to bots for example lol.

    the open world dungeons in xi were good but I really don't want them to do things like require 4 ppl to open a gate anymore, so in retrospect they weren't as heavenly as ppl remember in most cases. Plus I had some good times in the v1 dungeons. they weren't all that bad

    well i could see some of this.. but I could also say.. either you get 4 (1 (you) + 3 others) random passing people to help you open some doors then you carry on alone.. or you wait for 3 other random people to queue up to do an entire dungeon that your not even sure of their skill to do a 60 minute closed dungeon... either way every once in a while your going to need people.. but the door option..you only need those people for a really really short timeframe..

    these open dungeons don't HAVE TO have 24 hour pops... although they could for optional purposes.. but open world dungeons will all new types events could be built in.. I'm not talking about what exactly is in these dungeons.. I'm just starting with the idea of having the dungeons. All the cool things you can do in them can come with it.

    A new spinoff genre needs to be created for the people who like MMORPGs but want to spend the majority of their time soloing everything and getting handouts so its easy for everyone to see what kind of game they are going to be investing their time in. I will avoid those types of games.

    No. I actually am not. And the world of XIV is certainly not the same as XI. You can't ignore blatant contradictions just because there are a few similarities, as there are in every FF title.

    We have meaningful dungeons already. Just because it's instanced doesn't take much away from it. You're falling for an illusion by thinking it's less meaningful if it's not open world.

    I used to want this too but then I realized, we already have four "dungeons" (strongholds) we can go to open world, but there they sit untouched until someone happens to roll by getting a quest done. Looking back at the Crystal Tower fates or how annoying it was to try to claim mobs for relic early on should be a clear reminder for you, open world sucks. It's a terrible system and I don't want any more of it in this game.

    Chest is locked.... must guess a number or choose a clue XD oh wait that was done already! But yeah I'd like this ^_^ i miss exploring without instances,
