Well you're getting Amdapor Township which appears to be a 4man. Now I'm not one to cut devs slack when they don't produce as much content as they should, but one 4man dungeon every couple months is probably all they have time to make, seeing as they have to do other things as well.

Now, what I do feel is going too slow is additional jobs. A new job, far as I can tell, is just a handful of new abilities for an existing class, a new set of Artifact gear, a recolor of that same gear, and 5 new quests that aren't even voiced. I accept that I might underestimating it, but I feel like a new job ever couple patches should not be hard to do.

I think the real reason why they take so long to add new jobs is balancing. If they don't give a crap abou balance they could release a new class/job every month.

Still, I remember Yoshi-P saying that we would get new classes/jobs with patches because the "1.0 players already have everything capped", but the last time they mentioned new classes in a recent interview, he only said that the expansion would have a new one.

Well...they added Summoner in a patch but the summons in an expansion in XI, so that's not it - It's because they made the dumb decision to make most content in this game revolve around 4 man, so that heavily limits what kind of jobs can be added easily. 4 man has no room for a support unless they take away 1 dps, which can slow things WAY down in later levels.

If they switch the party setup to 6 man, 8/9 man or 15 man (1.0) sizes, they can add jobs much more easily because there will actually be "room" for it.

That's a pretty bad example. I said that they might want to balance jobs and you bring an example of a job that was very, very poorly balanced for most of it's career? Maybe it's their experience with SMN in FFXI that makes them want to be more careful here.

As to 4 man parties... I actually like them. I honestly think that Bard being a hybrid DPS with some support skills makes it a lot more interesting to play than if it were like in FFXI.

The present jobs mostly don't support a second job without considerable tweaking. MRD could easily be made a DPS (I'd argue that it is innately more suited to Dark Knight DPS than Warrior tank), and LNC could be made a tank with a few rewrites, but a lot of classes like GLA and CNJ simply don't support a second job without large, sweeping changes. Additionally, balancing everything takes a lot of work, and the cross-class abilities available aren't necessarily appropriate for some jobs.

I agree that I'd rather see second jobs sooner than later, but I also understand that it's really not as simple as just adding 5 abilities and a generic story and calling it a day.

Yea, but they had said there was an intent to get them in sooner than later. But 6 months in and we haven't even heard a hint that they intend to release any new jobs (we're not even talking classes here) before the first xpac. It's kind of discouraging.

They wont be adding new jobs in the middle of the game, only expansions most likely.
Its not nearly as easy as you you might think. Some stuff that has to be done.
    - what role is the new job, based of what class?
    - how can this new job contribute to rest of the team?
    - How can make the new job attractive yet not OP so everyone and their dog switches to it (this most likely requires a redesign of other jobs)
These are just a couple questions and we havn't come to the job itself, what spells, quests, abilities, uniqueness.
