But racing her through forty-five levels just so I can get some good level 13 gear is definitely not the way I'd have chosen to play the game.

Seems odd that they'd make the level requirement so high for promotional gear, level 13 would've been more than suitable seeing as some people who (especially with the steam release) might want to pace themselves.
