In that we had Nag's Lair with multiple bosses, we had Lady Vox with bosses, plus a huge amount of dungeons. Post 46 we had planes with tons of content (and tears).

I guess since every single boss and mini boss wasn't instanced- the numbers don't look impressive... but they also didn't have 3 versions of the same recycled fight. That is something that would have been considered ridiculous at the time... and I still feel.

Many of the instances you referred to are story dungeons, so I consider them leveling instances. That was also in 1999 - not 2013/2014...and a massive world...with crafting that was better than crafting here... tons of classes and races... and more complex systems.
I played EQ2 I know exactly what there was iI still love that game to death. the zones are huge and so are the dungeons. its a great game. and though you count them as story, they are required to be lvl 50. the current max level. and you needed to do them to get darklight as you farmed tombstones for your gear. so you could eve hope to survive in Coil. I am not bashing EQ2, personally I think it was WAY better then WoW, it was difficult and required graphics so it didnt catch on as much. One of the best games, it had so much depth that they cut away bit by bit to make it easier. still a great game.
