Aion had phew like what over 10 end game dungeons at release? Plus a nice crafting systems, pvp, vanity, and so much more
I can't even begin to list all the f2p (YES free to play) games that released with loads to do.

Over all I agree with you that there is a lot to do the problem is there is no reason to do it. They don't have multiple end game sets that's worth using. There's no vanity drops no rare crafting drops. Nothing. Which is why people say there's no content. Then the content you do have you're locked out of it.
First off, I like the tone of your argument, thank you.

    However,

*There are 8 ranks currently unavailable through Grand Companies. It stands to reason they will be offered soon.

*Chocobos will undoubtedly be more useful in the future.

These are just a couple examples of things we could be preparing for outside of dungeoning.

EQ 2 didn't have tons at release, but much more leveling content. More end game came later, but I was actually referring to EQ 1. Crafting in EQ 2 blows this game away. Not even close, player housing affordable, more diversity in gear, diversity in classes... factions...spell levels...

In EQ1 we had Nag's Lair with multiple bosses, we had Lady Vox with bosses, plus a huge amount of dungeons. Post 46 we had planes with tons of content (and tears).

I guess since every single boss and mini boss wasn't instanced- the numbers don't look impressive... but they also didn't have 3 versions of the same recycled fight. That is something that would have been considered ridiculous at the time... and I still feel.

Many of the instances you referred to are story dungeons, so I consider them leveling instances. That was also in 1999 - not 2013/2014...and a massive world...with crafting that was better than crafting here... tons of classes and races... and more complex systems. Mind you it launched in 99 and Kunark came out April 2000 - with Velious 9 months later. Insane growth.

I agree whole heartedly with the video. I log on Monday to do coil and debate if I should stay on and work toward a luminary or get on minecraft with 4 of my FC members.I Remember in 1.0 where I had to work my ass off to lvl my goldsmith and even after I hit 50 I had to struggle to make the +1 stuff but when I did I made money I would sit there for hours trying to make stuff better and if I wasn't doing that I was in the mines harvesting kidney ore for provisionary or selling on the market and it was a good way to make money and work towards my relic.
now I can do a relic in a few hours or so with my FC where in 1.0 it was days before you got it if you had the money to buy a melded item. These are examples on how when you make things a little difficult to acquire the economy thrives and moves forward. o and I didn't have a issue with people lowballing items I made for a few reasons: difficulty to make, difficulty to get the materials to make, time to make, and lvl to make.

I played EQ2 I know exactly what there was iI still love that game to death. the zones are huge and so are the dungeons. its a great game. and though you count them as story, they are required to be lvl 50. the current max level. and you needed to do them to get darklight as you farmed tombstones for your gear. so you could eve hope to survive in Coil. I am not bashing EQ2, personally I think it was WAY better then WoW, it was difficult and required graphics so it didnt catch on as much. One of the best games, it had so much depth that they cut away bit by bit to make it easier. still a great game.

I found this quite insightful on at least World of Warcraft's content timeline: http://www.wowwiki.com/Timeline_(World_of_Warcraft)

Well hopefully going forward they can make things more balanced and make more need for alot of the systems like crafting and materia useful again. That was the thing about 1.0 you were always crafting or melding and if you failed you lost the items. I know alot of people didn't like this but it kept people playing, spiritbonding for materia, buying and selling and when you got that piece with the triple meld it felt good. Not only that you had to have good gear to get good things and they simply can't keep giving everything away for nothing as it takes literally no effort to earn any hard gear in this game.

Right now it just doesn't feel like you have to earn anything in this game and sure earning a Twintania win for the first time is a real challenge and gear check but it has less significance considering you have all these locks blocking you from doing any of this. I would like to move forward and get Coil T4 down but like i mentioned before I need a little better gear but as of right now I can't do this because its impossible for me to earn anymore the entire rest of the week its ridiculous.

I don't think you are bashing it- most of my post is about EQ 1. It's some of the thought behind when I talk about content. It's a perception difference. I don't perceive the same fight in 3 modes to be more content- some people do. As an old gamer I am coming at content from that perspective of a massive and immersive experience... not a count of instances... or technical zone count. Just admitting my personal bias.

    Ah I see,

In the time it took me to read this, I counted 2 point blank and 3 off the hip points to make that would dissect and destroy this entire post, I just don't want to type that much.^^

Obviously you like xiv, so do I, that doesn't mean I don't state facts when I see them.

In the 34 years I have been playing video games, one of the things I have noticed about a lot of gamers is that the truth is usually the last thing they want to hear.

I mentioned 34 years because I never played pong when it was released, that was right after I gave up pinball to enlist.

Always good to chat withya Astro^^
