    Current State of the Game

A video describing how the lack of economic stimulation and weekly caps and throttles are hurting players desire to play the game.

There are many other forms of increasing the longevity of content in general without taking it away after x number of attempts/rewards.

Stimulating the economy and using different throttles would maintain content longevity as well as remove any sense of "weekly completion" and increase the average player's desire to play.

even this guy, who seems to like the game far more than me, is not happy with things as they are (and likely wont change). He only scratches the surface with the problems this game right now...so much potential, much that was tossed from 1.0, that is being squandered to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Well, they do seem more proud of having 1.8 million players than having an arbitrary number of dedicated endgamers!

I'm not sure how I feel about it, since I'm casual enough that none of it really affects me and the people who seem to complain about it most are usually the same ones who keep telling me to GTFO because I'm on a PS3. I get the sense there's a lot of entitlement going on and expecting devs to cater to antisocial playstyles at the expense of a wider audience's enjoyment?

What I'm wondering about is if this is some people's first mmo, because I cannot think of any recent mmo that didn't have endgame weekly caps, yet these people are treating it like the second coming of microtransactions.

On the economy front I will agree there needs to be a boost in income to players, especially with how much money gets taken out by things such as housing.

Basically this. Unless your comparing the game to EQ, FFXI, or one of the even older MMOs there isn't much ground for you to stand on.

Hell The fact that you are being rewarded RAID gear from GROUP (in 14's case defined as 4 man dungeons) content is insanity and should have never been allowed. Complaining that you cant get all the raid gear in a week AND do it without raiding is even crazier.

Agreed. Personally I subscribe to the more hardcore side (world wide #2 guild in EQ for years before coming here) but the "oh we have 2 billion players!!! and them all quitting in 3 months seems like a worse business model than "we have 1 million who will stick around for 10 years"

One thing I will disagree with is that you seem to be implying high end players are antisocial.. High end in modern MMOs is the ONLY people that are by definition social. Literally the only content they participate in is that which requires the most teamwork and interdependence. One of the biggest downfalls of MMOs these days is that everything except a small (say 10%) of the content is designed so that you need absolutely no social support.

Also people disqualifying people for being PS3 players is dumb. I know several people clearing T5 using the PS3. If anything these people are probably MORE skilled since they are playing at a handicap and still keeping up.

What do you expect, people would rather they be handed everything then have to work towards it and plan around anything designed to prevent them from progressing to fast. It's a clear example of how lazy most players are.

    Long story short:
    • Crafters/gatherers need real relevance in the game and economy.
    • RNG isn't a bad thing... When done properly, it extends the life of content and makes drops meaningful.

1.8 mil boxes sold sure, im sure actual number of subs is far lower, and i dont think this game is at the point of plateauing either. About a year in or so is when games really start to show a steady amount of subs, and even by then the more casual players are tired or moving on to the next shiny MMO (in this case EQN/ESO/Wildstar..ect). Like most recent MMOs that start with good reviews and large box sales, they refuse to show sub number, then come to find out its pretty low a year or so in and they barely stay afloat, go f2p (which is the new trend) or die off.

Just dont be shocked if the game is pretty much in the same boat as the rest, not even big names or devs have been keeping games that "fit the standard" from falling off hard. I want this game to be the next MMO i spend years with my RL friends playing like we did XI, but none of us are sticking around as it is...and nothing is changing from upcoming patches to change our minds.

Weekly caps are fairly new in the timeline of MMOs... and not all players have considered them to be a good thing.

I have completely disliked "dailies" since I heard about them... I don't even like the word.... it sounds like some kind of biological function... yuck.

"Fairly new"? WoW has had them for 10 years now!
