And this is where your argument loses it's value. Let me tell you the real reason why. It's to make the game have a purpose other than capping points. To have a real aim. I don't see how making some equipments or items super hard to get will alienate the majority of the playerbase. And I don't see how a few content in the game requiring extreme skill to pass will affect the majority of the game's playerbase either be it solo or group content.

Diversity. It's very lacking in this game.

I knew this answer with pop up sooner or later. It's time to accept that XIV was never meant to be XI-2. this is its own game with its own engine and mechanics.it's not for people to relive the glory days of 11. And even if all the 11 guys left now the subscriptions would still be high enough for square to consider this game a cold total success.

1.) I don't care how many millions of boxes you sold. How many still play? I have a FC member list of 100ish people. 50 Haven't logged on for over 60 days and I don't expect to see them again. 40 Log on to Myth Cap, Coil, Primal Weapon and then we don't see them WED - SUN and likely won't re-sub. About 10 people actually log on and play the game day to day... or log on to chat about how there's nothing to do. If the 10% that actually play are unhappy... where will this leave the game in the future?

    1) 1.8 million players
    2) Lost all cool points because of the un specified use of "WoW Clone" to justify your argument. FFXI had the same mechanic as weekly caps and purchase of end game gear through tokens.

FYI: most people came to FFXIV in 2010 because we liked FFXI but wanted something more modern without the old school time sinks = challenge approach.

But ffxiv is just about capping points and clearing your weekly lockouts. There's a difference

Sorry, I was being sarcastic and just repeating what I read time after time in these forums. I don't think making stuffs hard to get would alienable anybody but those who don't wanna try to get it for real. Because I don't think we should set the bar low in order to include people, instead we should motivate people people to get better. As of now the game lack much incentive for it.

My FFXI play ended with long before any weekly or daily caps... I'm not even sure what you refer to. But! I didn't come to XIV looking for XI. I came to XIV looking for the latest online installment of Final Fantasy. If you watched the original video you will see that I clearly compare FFXIV ARR to FFXIV and no other game! I compare what has changed and why it's bad. I do not refer to XI or any other game.

As far as comparing the game to WoW... I've never played WoW and wouldn't know how to compare the 2. I use WoW as an example because it is the most common comparison used inside the topic so far. Can I have my cool points back please?

I'm suggesting that SE is giving people good reasons to NOT play the game, and it would be a good idea to stop doing that!

@Dyvid i was a legacy player, but like most my friends we started off as a new class to play through the story (for me it was ARC/SMN) Yet i still have the same dull outlook. like Edenholt said: "Alright, we will get more bosses for the "end-game", but they're not adding, they're just nerfing the old and replacing it. We will also get more 15min-long dailies to do, with the new tribes and a new primal that we will put on farm in less than a week."

More hard mode dungeons, more extreme mode primals, more primals and dungeons that do the 1-2-3 linear trash>boss layout, more tomes to collect, its all the same crap with a new coat of paint (or the same coat) and you will hear the same complains and more people leaving once again after this next patch.

also that 1.8mil is sales, not actual paying subs, for all we know 1/4 of those box sales even give a hoot to play.

It just goes to show that those kind of aspects of games still work for people...lots of them...Yet games like this fight for the opposite short term, easy peasy, hand it to me on a silver platrer style of game.
Well TBH i feel that FFXIV ARR is designed for western gamers (specially usa generation X console gamers, yes i had the nerve to said this we all think this but not many people dare to say it)

It is, which is sort of weird, we do have plenty of those already, but when you see the more recent Mh games sales (tri and the WiiU version) you see the western sales are going up. MH has been pretty limited outside of japan, we never got half the games and most of the ones we did get are on handhelds and mainly systems that didnt sell well (excluding the wii, which had its own sales of software issues in the first place). Just like the fantastic Resident Evil 1 remake on gamecube, you cant say it was bad and noone wanted it, you just only sold it to the lest selling system and the one aimed at a younger playerbase.

    There's two types of hoppers:

*The casual player that tries out any kind of game anytime without any rhyme or reason and usually doesn't vocalize anything negative or positive.
*The mmo player that plays non-stop, only plays mmos and if they don't like an mmo they go to every forum they can vocalizing every negative aspect they can think of, usually in the wrong sections while trolling anyone they can that is enjoying the experience.

I meant the latter. I'm fine with casuals.
