With today’s technology this is an impossibility. For all intents and purposes, describing it as “instant” is appropriate.

There should be no “get out of jail free cards” only “I hope my buddy the cop is working tonight cards”

no one is talking about lag, people are talking about actively knowing the moment in which they or someone else is going to die, using an ability accordingly, and being punished for playing correctly.
maybe you haven't experienced it, but it is not lag. it is having to wait on an animation to finish to gain the effect of an ability.
It’s not telegraphed to be “instant”. And again, for all intents and purposes describing it as instant is a minor discrepancy at that.

If you’ve used Holmgang even once, this is apparent. And no it hasn’t. There is no such thing a “instant” in online. The ONLY reason I brought this up is because I was inferring the blame to lag on behalf of the person I quoted.

If the person was noticing a variance in their performance with Homlgang at that point in the game (hopefully realizing Holmgang is not “instant” outside of .24-.5 seconds apprx at this point), then it would likely be due to lag.

I’ve noticed this myself. The reference I used was Titan’s Mountain Buster. I’ve thought to myself, “Oooo I’m gonna die…wait…I LIVE!” and also “Ain’t gonna kill me…..whaaaaa?!?!?”

And again, I’m personally happy that it is not “instant”. I’ve never cared for that. “oh **** buttons” are cheap to me, but “almost oh **** buttons” I’m okay with.

And lastly, if you’ve failed to realize that Holmgang is not instant no matter how good your connection is, then you are not being punished for playing properly etcetera.
