    Nobody's complaining that Regen didn't heal enough to save someone dying, or that Cure III didn't have a range wide enough to cover the whole arena. Why are you complaining about Benediction's total cast time?
    Because an ability that's supposed to function instantly not only isn't functioning instantly, it's able to be "used" without actually doing anything. Why is that so difficult to understand?

    I've been playing FFXI for 10+ years and the only time I have ever noticed anything like that happening was when the user was afflicted with paralysis. I have not once used Invincible or Perfect Dodge and then proceeded to die immediately to the next melee attack. I have never used Benediction and seen it start to animate on someone only for them to fall down dead anyway.

    Again, I want to know, if a 12-year old game made by the same company could get it right, why couldn't this one?

    Again, this is a difference between cast time (instant being no delay in the actual cast) and when effect is actually applied.
    No ability that I am aware of have "instant effect" listed. Some may as well be as good as instant effect though.

    Can't speak for other scholars, but for me personally it has a delay. I also have delay when activating items or opening doors etc., so it's not just the skill.

    Last night, tank got down to 1k in Twintania, I use Bene, he dies anyway. Why? Cause he was hit by that death whatever for 12k! Twelve fing k... At what point is that not cheating by the game? Its like RNG death. There is no way I could have saved him, none. This has happened in Garuda as well with double wicked wheels both criting. Its annoying. This game sometimes.

    Again, this is a difference between cast time (instant being no delay in the actual cast) and when effect is actually applied.
    And do you suppose this delay exists for any practical reason other than to troll the player, or as simply lazy design?

    Either way, the point stands that an ability should not be considered used until it has actually taken effect. If someone is popping Hallowed Ground and still immediately dying, obviously it hasn't taken effect, and therefore it should not be on cooldown. Yet, this can happen, and happens frequently.

    With all due respect then, they should have added 'effect time' to the ability notes instead of just 'instant' because frankly it feels like false advertising when Benediction takes 1.5 seconds to actually go off. On paper that doesn't seem like much, but for a clutch cure, it may as well be an eternity.

    Not to mention the issue that despite HG and holmgang being designed to orevent damage, they aren't effective instantly. So the clutch moments that they are needed in, they don't deliver. I think i even saw them get interrupted, like a spell. I never saw this with 2hrs in my experience with FFXI or 1.0. If a instant ability didn't go off, it didn't go off.

    Fuzzy memory is Fuzzy. 2hrs were almost never used as clutch twitch omg i'm about to die moves in any of the 2 years i spent playing FFXI.

    2hours were almost always used in a planned manner.

    The group pulled 2-3 mobs that we know we can't handle? Everyone use your 2 hour abilities. Tank leads off Hallowed, allowing time to burn one most of the way down. After hallowed whm benediction after tank falls to 25%. Should now have 1 dead and 2nd should be about half dead.

    I forget what the other 2 hours were but they were almost never used as these twitch last second save me skills you guys are trying to use them as now in any group I ever partied with.
