While it may be a bit early to start discussing details, we can confirm that in patch 2.2 players will be able to place an NPC in the garden of their free company estate and open up their own store!

There's always the issue of taxes with the marketboard which adds a bit to the cost of items, so it may be the FC NPC you can setup will let you sell things without a tax or some other sort of bonus.

I highly doubt that they're be tax free. They want to keep money moving out of the game's economy. There may be a reduced tax, but they won't pull the tax completely. This is basically just dragging Rolan-mall in from FFXI and making it like the old market wards where I'll have to run, NPC to NPC, looking for something specific. Or I could, you know, just go to the Market Board and save myself a massive headache.

I've definitely seen personal shops before. DFO and RO2 are the first other games that come to mind for me.

In the current system? It'd work well in areas where it is inconvenient/unpleasant to travel back to the marketboard/vendor to get the items you need. Like Nova_Dresden said earlier, I also don't expect it to be tax-free.
