Final Fantasy X-related event

Saying it's "not a Final Fantasy game, add more characters from other games" doesn't make sense. VII didn't have characters from VI teleporting in, VIII didn't have Cloud fighting with Squall, etc. See what I mean here? You can make a Final Fantasy game without bringing in the roster of characters from other games. Each FF game worked because of the characters they had in that TITLE, the world they had created, etc. Not because they pulled characters from every previous game to help boost sales.

If this game NEEDS Cloud and Titus to come in and have events in order for the game to do well, then I hate to tell you, but it's already dead. On top of that, no FF MMO is going to "feel" like a single player FF game. There's no way for them to create the cast, story, and things as intricate as they do in a single player title, where you're the one playing the main character of that story, instead of one of MANY characters that work towards a goal....it's a uniquely different experience.

You can true. You can also incorporate other elements from other extremely successful games and pull it off. And they have definitely incorporated other aspects/designs/elements from one game to another. What makes this so significantly different that it contributes to a “lack of identity”?

It contributes to a lack of identity because it means, like you hinted at, that the game isn't strong enough on its own merits, own characters, and own story and content without bringing in other characters and events from other games in order to keep FF fans happy. That's not people being happy with XIV as a game, that's people being happy they can get a Cloud outfit from the CloudxSephiroth FATES because they loved VII.

Again, I am not talking about things like Gold Saucer, Ultima Weapon or things like that. I'm specifically referring to the bringing in of other characters. That's all.

That's not people being happy with XIV as a game, that's people being happy they can get a Cloud outfit from the CloudxSephiroth FATES because they loved VII.

Again you are failing to differentiate and distinguish a notable difference. Should we get rid of chocobos? Should we get rid of Ifrit? What about moogles?

Actually, this is the only blatant use of other characters in a final fantasy game iirc. Hence, giving it’s own very unique identity if you want to get technical.

And stop twisting people’s words around man. You quoted something and said, “100% this”. Excuse me for holding you accountable to the statement you quoted. If you said “75% this”, it might be a different story.

I personally think bringing in the Gold Saucer is surely just as big of a deal as if Cloud appeared in Eorzea. Both are creations from a universe outside of FFXIV's, yet you have a problem with one and not the other. Isn't that a bit hypocritical?

Nope, not at all. Gold Saucer is a casino, where it can be remade for XIV with its own look, games, etc....Cloud is a character, with a story, a background, relationships, and you played as said character for 60+ hours learning all about him. Huge difference actually.

I just hope Yoshi-P isn't swayed by the selfish misers who don't want any fan service simply because it doesn't interest them personally.

I doubt Mr. Yoshi-P would be swayed by anyone...or else we would have had housing prices down long ago =P on the same note Yoshi has also mentioned numerous times that he plays the game for enjoyment..not just for work related, and i like to believe that he is like us...if he thinks something would be cool in the game whether it would be a feature or event i'm sure he would take it to his team and discuss it at length.

I disagree. I read a quote that stated he wouldn't put gay marriages into the game because he wanted to see how the fans would react to it first. I think he doesn't want to take any risks with the game after what happened the first time it was released.
