This forum is a very small percentage of the player base. Honestly look in game then look in here. I swear they're playing something else.

While this is true with any mmo forum, I wouldn't expect people who are unhappy/bored of the game to exactly being logged in all the time either, unless they're a masochist.
Only 1.5 Millions ps3/pc combinated sales? i was hoping 4 - 5 millions as minimum is a Final Fantasy game.
Final Fantasy VII (10 million, includes Final Fantasy VII International)
Final Fantasy VIII (8.15 million till 31 march 2003)
Final Fantasy X (8.05 million)
Final Fantasy XIII (6.71 million, Includes ps3&360 versions)
Final Fantasy XII (5.6 million approximately: 2.4 million in Japan, 1.7 million in US, 1.1 million in Europe; 5.2 million shipped)
Final Fantasy IX (2.86 million in Japan; 5.08 million shipped)
After the Low Sales in FFXI, i was thinking Square enix learned Something in 10 years of experiencie. But It seems square enix lacks of knowledge in the MMRPG department.
1.5 Millions is a Great number for a "Average random MMRPG in the market". But For a Final Fantasy Game the sales are low
Considering the first week proves that was MUCH more than SE was expecting, its pretty good. As far as the idea that 1.5 million is 'low' consider that people are giving the stinkeye to anything with a sub fee these days.
SE has said FFXI was the highest grossing FF in history. With the other games, you pay for box and done. For MMORPG, you pay for box, expansions and monthly sub. It's a completely different model. I would not be surprised if in 10 years FFXIV is the highest grossing and profitable FF in history.Only 1.5 Millions ps3/pc combinated sales? i was hoping 4 - 5 millions as minimum is a Final Fantasy game.

People don't really know what a "Clone" is, do they.
gj se!! now time to invest in some servers!
FFXI supported the company for over a decade and was the most profitable Final Fantasy for a long time so it's no surprise, sub based MMOs as WoW cloney as this one is almost always attract enough players to turn a profit, especially when your main single player franchise has been in the slumps churning out mediocre games and then some with a protagonist no one really likes.
FF XIV is a very compelling game. Although there are many things which could be improved, this is because an MMORPG tries to accomplish so much. The amount of things it does well outnumbers the things which are lacking and that's why we play.
