I really don't understand why they didn't make the items in the same way they make every other piece of gear in the game - same item, just different looks for male and female. (Though I still think it'd be best if both male and female got both outfits.)

The only reason I can see behind it is so that the icons are different, but that leaves us at the disadvantage we're having now where if you have a gender-locked item you're really screwed in the long-run.

Other than the icons there really isn't a reason to segregate it by gender, or we encounter this issue a few of us are having.

Not that adding in an exchange system would be difficult, they already did it with the Calamity Salvager.
