Should FF14's budget be made, released, and killed off so 5yrs down the road some KRMMO perfect the system?

FF14 is not a science project, it's a product. Unless a product sells, it's just people throwing money, even if it's a "greater good" it's not going to be them.

There's a right way to innovate and there's a wrong way. If you want to bet you life on a lottery to prove your son can see into the future...go ahead.

FF14 is going back to dull basics, but it should have been that with the start. Start with basics then add flavor and then maybe-just-maybe you can get a brilliant out of it if you're lucky.
there is a number of business models that gamble on making the next thing, and they are often very successful. Bell south phones, televisions, railroads airplanes, plastics,. The business model you are speaking of is only one business models. Many rich families have built their fortunes on innovation, and continue to to this day. 8 track is gone, walkmans are gone, discmans are about to be gone, vinyl is gone. Innovation is a strong part of business, and you never want to be at the end of the curve using old dated mechanics. that is a sure fire way to fail especially in the tech business world.

Delusions of Grandeur can have disastrous results.

the analogy is not even proportionately correct to a battle system, no system is perfect and you can not sit there and claim that there will never be another, better battle system sometime down the road.

You have made up your mind, nothing will change... like was all ready said bad execution does not mean bad idea.

And just a side note the wheel was improved upon many times, stone wheel, to wooden, to metallic and so on; same purpose in mind just a different execution.

Different containers can hold the same liquids. :P They serve the same purposes but are modeled and designed to be used differently.

This is a huge relief - especially when you consider this atrocity: image.

I dunno, that looks pretty badass to me. It's like even friction can't stop my Gladiator.

I think you misunderstood what viion was trying to say. He was saying that even though SE had since 2005 to develop this game, they still put out a crappy product that felt like it had been rushed.

You guys are both arguing essentially the same point: that the game in its retail launch incarnation was horrible. You are also both right.
It's true that the team had since at least 2005 to work on this game. Also, given SE's snail pace of development time, they weren't even finished by the time the launch date loomed near, so the executives forced them to "rush" to "finish" the game in time for launch by any means necessary. (Red text may or may not be true and is only speculation on my part)

Wada dances around the words but he even starts off by stating they released the game way to soon...

Post anything you have that says other wise and ill being to believe you and viion.
That's not Wada in that interview.

3 years time is not much time, i do feel that they pry had been working on it longer then when it was announced in 2005 but how much longer? 5 months, 3 years, 4 minutes who knows. All i was saying IMO was that blizzard and other companies spend much more time developing their MMO's and reap the benefits (I hate WoW but sub numbers and cash don't lie); FF XIV was rushed my point and case.

My bad, Nobuaki Komoto the producer of FF XIV which is all you need to know.
