Nope I don't feel betrayed. Happy we get some new progression content in patch 2.2. Can't wait to get some new gear and AF2 with the new tombstones.

Thank you OP you pretty much summed up my feelings exactly. (Though I am tempted to go back to xi if I could afford both subs because I was really enjoying seekers expansion when I was waiting for ARR to start)

Also to anyone saying they were "Betrayed" get over yourself. You are one person in a sea of millions of players. No one cares about your entitlements.

Funny thing, you too are one person in a sea of a million players who think -you- know what the majority of the player base wants. Both sides have good arguments. I don't actually stand with either. Im not happy but im not unhappy enough to quit either. I don't think that my personal opinion is that of the majority however and nor should you.

All these forums are a cesspool of players whining and complaining that the game isn't what they wanted.

Fixed for you because lets face it, its not -just- legacy complaining and when there's a awful lot of complaining going on, mayybbbee just mayybbeee something isn't right... Made more noticeable by just logging in every day and looking at how empty citys are(But kyri! they are out exploring!) Exploring what..?
Look at your FC list, unless yours is the type to kick people offline for more then two weeks your gonna notice there's a lot of people not logging in any more and a lot more "deleted" being removed from your ls' lists.

Like I said I like this game and I have points im not happy with. I don't have the underlying OMGINEEDTOLOGON feel I had in XI no, but I enjoy my time most of the time. However if it aint broken don't fix it normally applies there is broken and duct taped cracks around the problems so yes, certain things should be addressed and looked into, white knight or not.

On a second note the whole "They did a census and this is what you wanted so deal" argument: 1. I havent seen a poll for a very very long time in which a lot of the things in it were pretty 50/50 and the game makers made the choice. 2. People complaining about these things during beta were told to shut up its beta and look where its lead? The problems are still there. So telling people not to complain is indeed counter productive unless it's some rage head who has no point then to bitch. The Op brings up valid concerns and worries and didn't say "OMGTHISSUCKSIQUIT" so try not to sound like the no brained "OMGLEAVEWEHATEYOUWOWPLAYER!" it isn't helping you.

I think the fact that we have like 5 of these threads on the front page at any given time (and that outside these forums, most of the discussion of this game is negative) speaks volumes about the shaky foundation FFXIV is sitting on.

Even if the people complaining ARE a minority (for the time being), they're typically the same people who paid for FFXI for nearly a decade. It's generally not a good idea to piss off your loyal customers who have proven to be a reliable source of income in favor of a fickle-minded mainstream crowd who generally jump from one flavor-of-the-month to the next.

What are SE going to be left with when those customers hop on the next shiny new MMO to come out (the same way they hop on the next shiny piece of gear and forget about the last one)? The older players who they've now lost the confidence of.

SE made the decision to try and grab 2 million subs for a year or two at best, instead of 3-500 thousand for a decade. Bad business move, but investors and stockholders are completely blind to long term sustainability and only want to see immediate gratification and returns, just like the customers they're pandering to.

Anyways I agree with the sea of clones . There is no one different from player A or B gear wise PLD looks like the other PLD of same iLVL .

Also the cross class abilities is a let down , I would love to make a true Tank MAGE or a Warrior that used a Lance . OR even a healer that could use a bow .

Why do people compare this to XI... It flopped thats why they created XIV in a short period of time... Your comparing two things that are not to be compared one failed so they went a different direction... If this was like XI then it would be like getting married getting divorced and then marrying the same person all over again... Its didnt work the first time, its not gonna work the second... So stop comparing them...!!!

It is a case of rose-tinted-stupid. Memories of the past are often recalled with far more glory than they actually had. The brain tends to shut out unpleasant feels and such. *shrug*

Honestly if anyone is feeling "betrayed" you need to step away from your computer, take a deep breath, and really... no I mean it, REALLY actually ponder this game, yourself, and your relationship with games of this type. Because really... Betrayed? I honestly concerned about your mental well being if a game can stir such a strong emotional response. You (the OP) seemed to have come here with assumptions this would be like FFXI-2, and who could blame you in 1.0? It was something that called to me as well.

However, it isn't that. It was plainly put forth in ARR that it wouldn't be that. Everything they've done in their direction and management has shown that. Sure we get some recycled mobs here and there, but that's it and am I ever thankful for it. If you're this upset with the game, do yourself a big favor. Play something else for a while, it sounds to me more like burnout than anything. Take a small break, maybe even until 2.2. You might find yourself excited again.

Ugh, you must be referring to XIV 1.0, because XI is considered one of the most successfull MMORPG in history among others and the most profitable SE project of all. Yeah, it had like 600k subs at most, but for, what, 11 years now?

The reason why we can't go back to XI is because this game exists no more. One day it decided to go modern route and destroed all those things we loved it for.

And yes, to give you some statistics, out of ~1400 people on my server that I keep track of (I actually PRed FFXIV with my own money in some communities) only ~180 haven't left so far. Today a few more said that it's enough for them and they are unsubsribing. So, now, tell me about "vocal minority" of yours.

P.S. I do feel betrayed, because now I don't know how to look in eyes of those people that I invitied to play this game.
