Anyone Else Feel Betrayed?

Why do people compare this to XI... It flopped thats why they created XIV in a short period of time... Your comparing two things that are not to be compared one failed so they went a different direction... If this was like XI then it would be like getting married getting divorced and then marrying the same person all over again... Its didnt work the first time, its not gonna work the second... So stop comparing them...!!!

It is a case of rose-tinted-stupid. Memories of the past are often recalled with far more glory than they actually had. The brain tends to shut out unpleasant feels and such. *shrug*

Honestly if anyone is feeling "betrayed" you need to step away from your computer, take a deep breath, and really... no I mean it, REALLY actually ponder this game, yourself, and your relationship with games of this type. Because really... Betrayed? I honestly concerned about your mental well being if a game can stir such a strong emotional response. You (the OP) seemed to have come here with assumptions this would be like FFXI-2, and who could blame you in 1.0? It was something that called to me as well.

However, it isn't that. It was plainly put forth in ARR that it wouldn't be that. Everything they've done in their direction and management has shown that. Sure we get some recycled mobs here and there, but that's it and am I ever thankful for it. If you're this upset with the game, do yourself a big favor. Play something else for a while, it sounds to me more like burnout than anything. Take a small break, maybe even until 2.2. You might find yourself excited again.

Ugh, you must be referring to XIV 1.0, because XI is considered one of the most successfull MMORPG in history among others and the most profitable SE project of all. Yeah, it had like 600k subs at most, but for, what, 11 years now?

The reason why we can't go back to XI is because this game exists no more. One day it decided to go modern route and destroed all those things we loved it for.

And yes, to give you some statistics, out of ~1400 people on my server that I keep track of (I actually PRed FFXIV with my own money in some communities) only ~180 haven't left so far. Today a few more said that it's enough for them and they are unsubsribing. So, now, tell me about "vocal minority" of yours.

P.S. I do feel betrayed, because now I don't know how to look in eyes of those people that I invitied to play this game.

I was expecting nothing from this game. All I knew was that 1.0 was widely considered a disaster, including by the producers themselves.

I am not feeling betrayed, I am feeling surprised and delighted.

They delivered on NO HYPE. Compare with the Guild Wars 2 mega-hype... and the result. :P

Sub numbers dropping can be attributed to the age of the game, theres no evidence that XI staying the way it was before will maintain its sub numbers perpetually.

Let me preface this by saying a few things:



Now I don't begrudge the people who like this - I'm glad folks are enjoying the game. For me personally, I just feel like YP didn't totally deliver on what the people whom XIV was originally made for, fans of XI, wanted.
