    Well, written, OP.

I brought my LS from FFXI here. I built us a new website. I was pumped and devoured every bit of news I could get my hands on. This was going to be it, SE's magnum opus, the only MMO I'd ever call home again. And then...

Well, I don't think I've ever been as heartbroken over a game before.

People like to say that those of us who beta tested should have known. Honestly, I think we were all waiting for the 'miracle patch' that would come between the end of beta and release. This was Square Enix. This was Final Fantasy. It just wasn't possible that it wouldn't be good.

I think the only thing that shocked and disappointed me more than the first timed I logged into CB was the first time I logged in after it went live.

And now, a little levity. I think this sums up how we feel:

That's entirely my point. They just had a flat reduction in exp to make people get to mid and high levels faster. But those first levels are still boring as hell and definitely not going to charm any new people into sticking with the game.

They COULD have made a few more low level quests, some mini-dungeons, some exploration quests, etc. But if they add those in now, who cares? How many people are going to go do them? 10% of the population? 20%? A very generous 40%? How many people WON'T be pissed that they added in lowbie content, when practically everyone has a job at 40+?

Low level content is just as important as mid and high level content, but there's no way in hell SE is going to put effort into low level content right now. They just made 1-20 a breeze as a band-aid fix.

One of those "sad but true" statements. I thought I heard something that the next major patch was going to have low rank content though... First biggie was endgame, then next one was mid rank, and now low rank. But it could just have been a rumour that stuck in my head for whatever reason, unfortunately I can't provide any tangible source.

I think SE is trying to make this game too many things for too many types of players. Let really be honest here...FF is not for everyone. It is about the grind and it is about feeling accomplished. I think when SE tried to take some of WoW's members they dropped the ball. I think they were onto something at the start with the local leves as a way to break up the "grind" but now you have leve parties and there is no real out in the world grind happening. There is now Valkurm Dunes type parties. You know the specific area zones to grind and LEARN your job.

Making this game easier I think is having the wrong effect on many player types. In essence you now have a bunch of 50 lvl noobs running around all dressed up with no where to go. I have stated this before and I will state it again. SE right now the players you are listening to are going to leave you as soon as they have to pay. I mean why pay for a game when you have most of your jobs at 50 with the best gear you can get in the game at this point.

SE my hope is that you will bring back the grind and the zone grind parties. I think people are missing that as much as they are missing the story. I know many MANY LS are missing zone grinds. It might be a thought to get guardian aspect at anytime from a crystal that last for x-amount of hours. This I think would pull people away from leve grinding and D4D at BW for the 1 billionth time and start making players adventure. This way you could give the casual player an option for the limited time and those will much more play time other options to get just as much SP without doing the same leve quest again and again. At this point the lack of story and diversity is killing this game.

P.S. For the love of god please lower the SP there are way to many players with multiply 50 jobs running around without a clue of how to play that job. This I think might piss some off, but for others it will actually make them better players to have the extra time to learn instead of going from 1-50 in 3.5 weeks. This is just silly and should not happen.

    Agree with the OP.

Grumpy with myself more than anything for caring so much. Why should I care, it's just a bloody game!

I do though, I'm gutted. Feel like I found out my new girlfriend is actually a man. Not sure I'd put up with that for 6 months though,

It's not about the lack of grind or lack of "Final Fantasy" or whatever. It's that there's literally nothing fun to do in this game, grinding included. There are no dungeons, quests are mediocre at best, NMs are boring, and there's no point to doing anything. There is no reward other than seeing a bunch of numbers.

Where's the cool cutscenes? Cool zones? Interesting or difficult battles? Rare items? Hell, even FFXI's grinding, which I hated with a passion, was more involved and fun than FFXIV's.
