lack of content has always been a major flaw of this game, and yet they have ignored it for 6 months. It was the number 1 voted change in NA. the thing is, lack of content becomes a bigger problem the longer the games been out. Its understandable on release day that we dont have that much content, but 9 months later? really?

IMO the battle system rework first was a big mistake, or at the very least they should have found a way to do it much faster. Its amazing when you realize this game is virtually the same content wise as the day it shipped. Really need rapidfire changes now, and in all honesty it needs to be more than what they expect for end of summer. the list is pretty bare in all honesty, when you look at what they actually say they are planning to implement over the next 3 months.

Don't play an MMO? There are tons of other multiplayer games with ten times the fun and one tenth the time investment/frustration.

Yeah, I just re-read the last producer's later, and the only thing he promised for 1.18 was guildleve reward adjustment and auto-attack, along with an auto-attack video. 7 months of Battle system planning, 2 months since the last patch, and all they can guarantee is auto-attack.

Agreed, I would nominate Demon's Souls. It's a little like an MMO and you can get it for $15 or so. It's an incredible experience, much more memorable than FFXIV.

lol I started doing some PSN trophy battles with a friend of mine actually to help pass the time. An issue I have is that they don't release many RPGs anymore (and the immersive storyline games are really all I feel like playing), particularly for PS3, considering I've played/own tons already for PS1/PS2 haha

Ah Demon's Souls... I loved that game. Very challenging and very engaging. I managed to get the "Toughest Soul (Platinum)" trophy ^_^

The next one should be good!

I think for most of the SE fanbase we feel disappointed. I think we are disappointed for various reasons, but over all the game lacks...well it just lacks. There are a couple things though I would like to put into perspective that I think we all know but we don't keep up front as well.

    1. FFXI was in a horrible state at launch. When it came to NA it came with an expansion pack. So guys the JP players have now went through this twice with a FFMMO. Lets remember that FFXI was not always a well polished game either.

    2. Fanboys(myself included) are missing the nostalgia of FFXI its story and its content and so we are complaining about I think the wrong things.

    3. The state of FFXIV was in such a poor state that the new Dev team under Yoshi-P is basically having to re-write the entire game and code from ground up. Any game producer/game code writer will let you know this is no easy task. So expecting alot when basically they are having to start from scratch I think is being unrealistic.

Look I want this game to succeed but the things that people I have seen complain about worry me. I think with the class system we are going the wrong way with the "job system." I think the nostalgia of FFXI is what is doing this to us. We need to start thinking outside the box and quit demanding BLM, WHM, DKN Etc. jobs. We sorta already have those jobs they are just no called that and let be honest with the system we have now we can make each job our own the way we want it. Maybe I am wrong and people want cookie cutter job where everyone has the same stats and the only thing that sets us apart is the gear we wear. The amazing thing is maybe I am wrong and the "job system" will not bring in jobs called White Mage, Black Mage Etc.

You also have to remember that RMT was a HUGE problem with FFXI which made it really hard on the casual player in getting gear. SO the things that they added to help fix this problem is a work in progress. I am not for an AH as that will only make things easier, but you get the point.

If people are expecting shock and awe with this next patch they will be disappointed. I am in this game for the long haul, but I would like to remind SE this one thing. I know you want a new subscriber base, but making this game easy is not the answer. The real players that will pay money want a game with story and content. Accomplishment is what we are craving. This game has been out for less than a year and I already have several job at 50 and even more at 35+. This would have been unheard of in FFXI(unless you are RMT). The point here is that your fanbase is losing interest because the don't feel the rich story telling of a FF game nor do they feel accomplishment of reach 50 OR taking down a roaming NM.

FFXI was infinitely more polished and complete than FFXIV at launch. It had quests, four times the zones and dungeons, zone progression, fleshed out stories, etc. Within a month, it had NMs and auction house. Within two, it had its first huge rounds of class and experience rebalancing. FFXI was moving at light speed compared to FFXIV.

This is FFXIV's biggest dilemma. They can't work fast, because it's now a retail service. They need to go through rigorous planning, testing, QA, etc. to make sure that when they put some feature in, it'll work right off the bat. Alpha and beta phase games don't have to worry too much about this. They can't take the game offline, because they have a bunch of rabid fans to answer to and they'd have to recall every copy that hasn't been sold yet. Not to mention that nobody's going to want to carry their game again when they re-release it.

Maybe this is the biggest problem and perhaps they should take it down and everyone that is playing now should be beta testers. I want this game to succeed and if they have to do it by taking it down so be it......in my mind whatever it takes!

Going back into beta would generally mean that they'll be wiping character data as well for the re-release. Which I'm all for, for a variety of reasons.
