Nah it wasn't me. I played on... Carbuncle? Then Midgardsormr, then Ifrit, character jumped for each, so I maintained the same name. When I created my character at NA launch of FFXI, I didn't remember seeing any players in a character search with my name, or similar names. So if it's a fairly common name they just copied me lol. I do remember those experiences though, it was a different time. Back when seeing a train of 20 crawlers coming at you was just something we called "Tuesday". :P

I know how you feel about the lack of content in this game, that's pretty much been my only gripe so far. I mean there is like what 15 different weapons per class? I went to play Saturday and was like meh and then went mountain biking instead.
They added more trails and even updated some old trails that needed some new content...My local mtb club adds content updates faster than SE.

You are defiantly not alone op. I think all but the truly delusional feel the same. At least those of us who have been playing for a while. We are all dressed up but have no where to go. This is a very critical time for the games longevity. All we can hope is that they make a very strong showing with .18 and things really start to pick up after.

Yup, thats exactly how i feel about this game. Especially how the game went from open beta to launch without any major changes.

Though i went back to ffxi for the sake of nostalgia, only to find that abyssea has killed playing that game as well. Granted, that is to be expected with the game going on as long as it has. Its not going to cater to new players the same way it did when it was young.

Though 14... i can't even convince myself to re install it anymore. Not even all too sure when my disc is, but i'm sure its around. But with a year coming up, and the game still lacking so much. I really don't see it making a comeback, or at least one worth mentioning. If the game survives it may be fun to play in another year or so. But by that time i'm sure there will be many better things to do. It will have its hardcore cult following but its going to do down as a failure as a MMO.

It is sad, i had high hopes for this game. There is a collectors edition sitting at my house, collecting dust. How they could go so far away from a great game to this is beyond me. The only thing i can think of is that they didn't want people to leave XI so they made it completely different, pissing off the majority of their fanbase in the process.

Oh well, all things have to end.

Interesting note. As of tomorrow (6/14) it will have been two months since we got a "patch"...
I'm not counting hotfix's 1.17a or 1.17b, but 1.17 came out on 4/14...

Hopefully 1.18 will introduce a multitude of content that makes up for the last two months.

The only solution is to stop playing. It's easier to take in the reality of this game's situation when you stop caring and play games that are actually fun. You can always come back when/if they fix it.

I agree wholeheartedly but it's easier said than done. It's tough to abandon avatars that feel like a part of yourself. That's why still log in, if only for a few minutes or an hour every few days. Been trying to find a fun MMO with my small circle to pass the time for now, but I'm a creature of habit lol
