Don't you need to fight the battle first before you can tell the minstrel about it so he can make a song?
Would it not mean that only 1.0 characters can unlock the fight in ARR?

And another note to add:

At that time, the minstrel was imprisoned by the Yellowjackets I think (cmiiw). And because of that, he could no longer be able to hand out gobbue horns to new adventurers. And also because of that, there is no way he could have heard about event surrounding Rivenroad.

Back then, if any players visit the same spot where the minstrel was and keep poking around, we got sent to prison where the minstrel was. And when we ask him, he will say prophecies about the coming disaster that would fell, which would be Dalamud itself.
