Thanks for treating us like idiots.
You know what they say, ask a stupid question. . .

Except it's not a stupid question, it's a reasonable request based on other games of a similar style that have this information freely available. If they have no plans to let us see it, that's fine. But that answer is rude to say the least.

I remember a time when stats weren't transparent. But the times have changed and people no longer want to do maths.
Hvinre gets the 2014 troll award though. Poor guy is only doing his job, but if you get more of a stat, I sure hope the effect becomes stronger lol.
You should have bought an authenticator.....
Your tears feed me....

I can see why they are reluctant to display the entirety of the data available to them. If we knew every stat and how things worked then the player base would hammer out the exact "perfect" build within hours. Anyone who does not fit the exact cookie cutter mold would be declared "gimp" "stupid" etc etc. We actually had quite a bit of fun in FFXI testing out stats and working out the math to find the best builds on our own. The people willing to put in the extra effort and test out various gearsets would be rewarded by having optimal builds before the community at large eventually caught up.
It's sad because players nowadays want everything handed to them on a plate.
Just your friendly neighborhood elezen

Hey all,
We brought up some of the issues raised in this thread and wanted to share the responses with you now:
In regards to showing the chance for critical hits, the team remarked that there are currently no plans to display this in the UI. Players can assume simply that as the stats that affect this grow larger, the effect will become greater.
The team is currently looking into an option to "skip all" cutscenes. The team has also been looking into a better incorporation of Chocobo Companions including allowing you to register for Duty Finder while having your companion out, as well as riding your companion while he's called. While the timing for these hasn't been decided we'll keep you aware when we hear more.
You know what they say when you assume? or heard that assumption is the mother of all f ups?
I don't really understand why the dev team's expectation is that we have math wizards and elitist fan groups crunch the numbers and test and figure out what could easily just be displayed in the UI with a number. People are going to figure it out eventually anyway, so why mask this information.
Hardcore fans are resourceful, they'll figure it out quickly enough whether the stat is shown or not. May as well just show it to save everyone the trouble.I can see why they are reluctant to display the entirety of the data available to them. If we knew every stat and how things worked then the player base would hammer out the exact "perfect" build within hours.

Spot on, OP!
Just more proof this game was NOT ready to be released yet.
Why wasn't this stuff added at release is beyond me. What's worse is that we probably won't see most of this stuff fixed until 2.2 and beyond, even. Simple conveniences and quality of life changes are what makes MMOs stand out, IMO.
*edit*
Oh, and el oh el @ that Hvinire guy and the devs.
