Surplus SP ruined FFXIV for me

I only have enough time to play ffxiv on weekends and very rarely will login on weekdays. When i heard about surplus system I was actually really happy because now I could finally keep pace with all the hardcore players that live in this game.

This is not the case at all, the surplus system does not affect hardcore players if they want to get to 50 they will do it even at 10% sp. I logged on Saturday and had the day off with nothing to do so I played ffxiv for at least 8 hours and in that time my Conjurer, Gladiator, and my Thaumaturage are all in surplus. I don't do any crafting jobs because I simply don't have time for that. I want to spend all my time on ffxiv just leveling conjurer. I don't want to be forced to switch classes.

Oh and most people in my linkshell are the types that play all day everyday (i swear the same people are ALWAYS online) and they all have multiple rank 50's. My highest rank is 27 (with the rest at 1-19) and I'm trying to catch up to them but I'm in surplus! They should be the ones getting punished, if anything I should get a 3x boost to sp for not playing 4/5 of the days that the game has been out (i preordered the collectors edition). Instead I am the one getting punished and it'll take me almost a year to get to 50 in just one class. Even if I were to accomplish this, I wouldn't be an effective character without needed skills from other classes.

What kind of casual player literally logs on EVERY DAY but only for 2 hours. That is what SE was expecting because thats the only way a casual player would benefit. My future for ffxiv is going to do be this.

    Login on Saturday

Play as Conjurer for 2-4 hours, hit surplus, and then logoff.

    Wait a week and repeat.

As soon as I get charged for a month, I will be quitting.

Why play at all if you plan on quitting >.> that seems like a huge waste of time. Because the monthly charges will come one day..

Because I still have hope that things will change. The games free now and gives me something do on a boring weekend but if I have to pay monthly to play at most 15 hours a month, its not worth it.

Obviously it's going to cost something soon.

If it's not worth it to you now, it's not going to be worth it to you then.

I'm not completely against ffxiv. I loved ffxi and have been waiting for this game for a long time. It'd be very disappointing to have to quit but if I find out that this is the way its going to be for now on and thats theres no plans for change, then I will quit. Until that point I will keep playing at a casual pace so that if things do change I will still have made progress on my character

Do you honestly think in two days playtime you should be at the same level as someone who plays all day every day?

When I heard of surplus I thought it would account for all of the time I didn't play and give me regular sp until I finally reached that point.

Like if I don't play for 4 weeks, I should be able to get regular sp for 16 hours instead of 4 hours.

LOL. I barely play the game anymore and im no where near the level lots of people are who play each day 8 hours a day. Im only level 20 right now and i started in Sept. I dont think the Surplus works this way? What i hear it works on the "weekly bases" for how much exp you have not the "monthly bases" or yearly bases or what ever then resets. So in no way we would be able to catch up to someone who plays daily for that many hours. Its not based on who is the highest level in game and when everyone else plays it tries to catch up to them... so yah you get my point here.

You can get to 50 in less than a month logging in for only an hour and a half each reset and doing leves in a static group. You can ask anyone in my LS.

Simply put, if anyone is quitting over fatigue then a) they don't know how it works in reality and b) they don't have a good grasp on how SP works in this game in general.

Maybe if they made the game design easier to understand and gave us more information about how stuff works, there wouldn't be problems like new players/people complaining about limitations that according to some are actually helpful and they just don't understand it.
