Small update on this, 2.1 has been exceedingly handy with identifying the species/genus names due to Treasure Hunt, as "Alpha X" and "Territorial Y" tend to refer not to specific mobs, but the divisions they come from. Quick mid-battle screenshots of mob models with their names might end up helpful. That said, it's not always perfect. Territorial Roselet, for instance, doesn't match Red Landtrap Leaf's item description that the red landtraps are called Roselings.
