    I'm wondering if the issue is indeed the text, or perhaps just the misguided views of the folks in Eorzea? Those naturalists are a loopy lot...

    My money's on attempts to enhance the flavor text (the JP side can be a little minimalist at times) gone awry with mistakes, or blatant retconning where we'll need to re-establish canon. A lot of the FATE and Leve flavor text isn't NPC Chatter - it's system descriptions akin to journals. If those would lie to us about even the basics, it wouldn't even be worth the work to try to track it all down.
