More total damage in a fight that lasts longer means nothing. That's why DPS is what we measure.

PET QUESTION:
Cleared all the Ex Primals on my SCH. Want some of the items for my SMN though so started trying to get Garuda's Ring first. Well has not dropped in 5 tries BUT question is: Even if you get your pet into the Wind Protection Bubble does it still die on you? When I was on SCH my fairy never had an issue staying alive but Garuda-Egi died every time even when in middle of bubble and even when SCH put up Sacred Soil and Succor. Am I missing something or do yunz' pets die too?

i all the time use ifirt ^^ but he did not die
no all fight need ifrit but on ultima lol ok he die withe you but never withe me ^^
and i say tray
on titan ex i use garuda
so ifrit no all the time the best
but i say he is the key if you need your smn go up alot on damage in your party ^^
I'm not so sure what is "meaningful" about you posting your dummy ifrit DPS results from a parser. We're comparing garuda and ifrit's damage, why even bring up shadowflare?
I have parses using rouse and spur on cd, and ifrit still came out ahead. I won't bother posting them since I highly doubt your sincerity in actually participating in any meaningful discussion on this. You can't say one pet is stronger than the other while completely discrediting the tools used to actually measure their damage in the first place. If you want to claim ignorance then do it fully.
How much DPS will ifrit do on any of the extreme primals when he's dead?
How will you keep Ifrit on Sic in any fight that stun resistance matters and he messes it up?
Assuming he really does more DPS (he doesn't), How will Ifrit ever beat contagion? Or Garuda's range when changing targets?
What is the point of your tests when they reflect nothing from a real fight? What is the point of ever using ifrit if garuda's range + contagion always beats him? Are you that impressed that ifrit managed to 2 - 3 more dps on a test dummy for you?
If you're going to act superior with parser screenshots, at least post information that will be useful in real encounters-- you know, where the enemy moves and fights back.
I'll fully claim ignorance on how to play summoner. You got me man, Ifrit must be better for SMN DPS. I mean, if not, wouldn't there be no point to your posts?

Only if you need a simple answer of "Use X pet". Otherwise, there would be a point.
In identical scenarios, you have different results of which pet pulls ahead in dps.
That's the whole issue, isn't it? Not which pet is best in a real fight.
This is meaningful because it can potentially further theorycrafting on how pets scale with various stats.
The difference between Seobit's results and others are likely stat allocation and that's what people are trying to figure out.
The few more dps ifrit puts out is not impressive. It's that it's consistent in one case where Garuda was consistently ahead in another.
Uncovering the discrepancy in results by analyzing both situations as they are doing is a much more meaningful discussion than which pet is better in a real fight.
Since that's not really a discussion. It's Garuda. Almost all of us agree on that.

Never did I say to use ifrit or that ifrit was better. I even explicitly said he wasn't. All I did was point out inconsistencies with other people's results and trying to figure out why they exist, because even if you only care about end results and practical application of these results, other people do want to know how things work and how we get to those results.
Everyone knows to use garuda (except that random guy who I can't even understand). It doesn't do anyone any good if all you do is come in here and say use garuda, ifrit sucks. We already know that, thanks.
It's fine if you don't understand why I posted these results of mine, but I'd appreciate if you didn't take so much offense to them, that's really not their purpose. Keep on using garuda nobody's going to chastise you for it.

The only thing Seobit's said has been, "Hey, parses against dummies usually show Garuda beating Ifrit, even on dummy fights, much less real fights; but I have these parses here where Ifrit is winning. Any idea why?" At no point has anyone other than Vamp007 said that Ifrit is actually better than Garuda for any real fight. We're just trying to work out what's going on in this specific instance.
Fairies tend to be more resilient I think because they are more likely to heal themselves. I'm not sure if fairies even heal other pets at all. On certain fights such as EM Garuda you kinda have to be on the ball as a SMN and make sure to toss out sustains whenever you can to keep your pet healed up so that it can survive these high damage transitions.PET QUESTION:

A fairy nor a chocobo will ever target an Egi for a cure, but any AOE cure will affect them if in range. Not even if the Egi is tanking and everyone else is at 100% HP.Fairies tend to be more resilient I think because they are more likely to heal themselves. Most important thing is to get garuda out of the windburn aoe, that will kill her if you don't have sustain up constantly.PET QUESTION:
