This would be great. The point of plumes, eruption, and weight of the land is to dodge them, right? Being able to quickly cast Float should be a method of dodging.

Can you not already do this with Mana Wall or Aetherial Manipulation?
Seems to me that people are just asking for buffs instead of using all the skills they already have. : /

Surecast may be almost useless in PvE, but it is plenty useful in PvP, is it not?

Until I start seeing groups purposefully avoid BLM (as LOTS of groups were doing with melee pre-2.1), I just don't see the need for a major change to a skill that already has its niche.
