This is the best damn post on the board, and guess what, Yoshi won't care... because he made money and Tanaka didn't... and it really is as simple as that. -.-
I'll miss FFXIV honestly. Hell I miss the Final Fantasy series as a whole. They're so busy trying to celebrate the past through nostalgia, they've forgotten why it was nostalgic in the first place.
Edit: The only thing that gives me hope is FFXIV 1.0 was a HORRID game at launch, but was actually, pretty fucking fun for me by the time it died in 1.23. It got ridiculously fun for me after a years time and they revamped the battle system, enhanced the world, added a ton of new story. But this took the team time.
I think for being four months old, this launch of WAY better than what 1.0 had to deal with... and, given the year and a half it took 1.0 to get good, I'm willing to give Yoshi the same chance.
But he won't get good without threads like this bringing up real issues. Even if they're emotionally sourced, I don't want Yoshi comfortable. We keep singing his praises, he's going to drop the ball at the wrong time. He's good at fixing other people's messes, he should be good at fixing his own.
In the meantime Athena, this is for you. Thanks for reminding me I'm not alone. I think of what this game was and could be and it makes my heart ache too badly to write what you did. Thanks for being my voice where all I had were tears and muttered wishes.
