@ OP: Oh my....
I finally get it now. Square-Enix has become the EA/Activision of Japan: Stifling creativity while draining the life out of the brands it owns that were once praised for their creativity and innovation. What the hell happened?!
Please for the love of baby tarutarus why do people keep referring this game to being "new"? This game isn't new its a refurbished shadow of where version 1.23 version left off and the empty promises the devs and yoshi gave us. Most of us that played version 1 agreed it started badly, but when people started complaining the devs listened and over time it started to become a decent game. Now they just don't care because they sold out and have never looked back.
I keep hearing that people thought FFXIV was going to be FFXI-2 which I'll admit I thought at launch of version 1 that was the direction they were going. Maybe that is why version 1 launch failed because it shocked everyone of being different. It wasn't like ffxi, wow, guild wars etc. But even at it's worst days at launch to the very end when meteor hit- 1.23 had more soul that ARR will ever have. Even after all the views, all the comments, opinions, likes, dislikes the devs only care about what lines their pockets. That is the ugly truth. To reference FFXI from where it started to even trying to mainstream it now will all the ilvl gear, delve, trust npcs, etc still has more promise than ARR. What people want to feel is accomplishment, memories, and purpose. ARR has not one single of these things. Trust me when I say this I am not hating the game in fact I really tried to love it. I even had a glimmer of hope after relaunch and month after month there would be something worth to keep logging in for. Everyone that paid for this game V1 and or ARR has every right to speak how they feel.
Forum I found that I never got to read until now.

just wanted to show my agreement with what was written on the original post.
Logged in yesterday for about a whole 25 minutes and did the Shantotto fate. I do how like how she mentions about where she came from and tries to tie into the current storyline. That makes me wonder if there would ever be the best of both worlds games FFXI, Version 1 and ARR? As you can see I do not post a lot on the forums only to voice my opinion or perhaps the voice of the voiceless although I hate speaking for others. I still do have a glimmer of hope that ARR could still be a great game even though I rather have 1.23 back and build from that.
I still sub even though I log in very seldom. It is hard to let go being a legacy player supporting the game from day 1. It is hard to watch all your friends your started with gone. I had a friend that day I logged on do the fate that I messaged in a /tell. I was like you still log in to play lol? He was like yea I just pretty much accepted how the game turned out. I told him I wish I could but I can't. I think others that truly like the game as is feel that people like me are bashing it to the ground. I just wanted ARR to be everything that it could of been. Most of everything that even the newer people complained about existed in Version 1 to the end. RMT, lack of Auction House, repairs, botting, primal drops, lag, and the list goes on. At least in towards the end of 1.23 they had most of this under control. I don't understand 2 years later they are right back to where they started. I don't understand SE and their impression that they didn't expect the amount of people that there were at the start of relaunch. Makes me think did they every truly want their game to succeed in the first place or just to make back the money they lost?

Oh hey its this thread again. We only see it once a day. I was starting to worry someone forgot to post a new one.

@OP - I don't know if someone already replied/said this but I'll say it because 11 pages is too much for me to read after reading your original post.
And I'm only going to touch on one thing, the difficulty of the game concerning Attacks/Red shadows.
You can turn those off. Please turn them off. Just in case you didn't know and if you already did...then I guess that's that![]()
I am a winner, even though I sometimes fail.

Business that's what happen to keep up with competitions out there such as WoW, GW2 and many more.

Between the Duty Finder and Party Finder there isn't really a need to talk to people to even build a party. There are no mini-games or social activities either. I would like some Chocobo Breeding or maybe a Fishing Contest? Chocobo races to show off your bred birds? A cooking competition, Iron Chef style? What if they brought in something like Battle Square from FF7 where you go round after round against random mobs while accruing various handicaps? Or, dare I say, a card game like FF8 and FF9? I loved Tetra Master and would have a blast playing it against other people. I just find that all there really is to do is fight and grind for drops, currency, or levels. I wish the game was more organic. The world of Eorzea can feel shallow and mechanical and could stand to be a bit more alive and vibrant.
