Request to speak to the Senior Game Master

I ask of you to please read everything before making your decision!
Don't just read the part "banned" and comment that he deserves it!
Below are helpful links to posts made in this thread.

If after reading this you guys feel strongly about this and wish to support him,
please consider replying to this thread, with enough support and replies, when
the officials see this thread and how many support him, maybe something will be done!

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

    ------------Important Posts------------

Mister Sirs post and his screenshots Click me!
Senior GM Jhanaka's post Click me!

    ----------------Updates----------------

3 Months has passed since Jhanaka's reply (click the link below to see it)
and still nothing has been done (far as we know). Mister has not yet been
contacted in any form or way by Square Enix. All we have is Jhanaka's post
saying they will investigate the account 3 months ago. At this time, his
account is still banned, and not a word heard from SE since the reply :/

I'm not giving up on this Square Enix. This is as much as i can do to stand up
for Mister Sirs in my own way. And, it's not right when all other forms of official support can't
seem to help (Or, don't want to), this is ALL we have left. It's sad when player forums
and Jhanaka's reply on page 3 were more useful to us than official support was.
I'm going to keep trying and trying for even at LEAST more information on this case as to
what they found on the investigation they said they would do, and as to why he's still banned
for "RMT activities". This is NOT the real reason for his banning.
Read the thread below for more information on this whole mess >.<

And for all of you that have stuck around and have shown your support, thank you
so much! ;.; Really means a lot to me! It makes me tear up to know that so
many of you feel the same way as we do ;.; Thank you so much again!

    ----------Original Post Below----------

I really hope this works.. ;.;! -breathes-

    Hello!

A good friend of mine got caught in one of the blanket bans that were pushed out back in september (think it was in September..), and hasn't yet been unbanned. He has put tickets in, and has spoken to live chat support for help on the issue. None of which helped, and all stated his account was permanently banned.

Now, before you call witch on me, please hear me out! I'm posting this for him cause he clearly can't :/

My request is for a way to have my friend speak with the Senior Game Master Jhanaka that contacted my friend in-game concerning his findings on August 29, 2013 at 10:11pm Eastern Time on the realm Midgardsormr.

And there's a screenshot to prove we were approached by said GM..
And please.. Don't flame me or say, it's his own fault and he deserves it.. Here we go..

My buddy in question, Mister Sirs, found a large hole in ARR's uh.. coding?.. where he could hack himself money and items. He reported it to Square Enix, and a few days later, while we were playing, we were approached by GM Jhanaka. He in detail told them how he hacked it, what steps he took and so on and so forth. When he asked the Senior GM on what he should do about the items and money, he said to put everything in a retainer and leave alone for investigation. He did. For a month, all those millions of gil and coins were left untouched for a month in his second retainer. He tried to contact them several times every week or so asking what to do with it and if he can delete that retainer. No reply.

Mister Sirs has all the emails, the tickets, and even screenshots of the conversation between him and GM Jhanaka telling him to keep the things in a retainer on file. All i ask, is if there is ANY way that the Senior GM, Jhanaka and Mister Sirs can talk about this issue, showing him all the screenshots, tickets and emails that went between them, to see if he can get his account unbanned..

    Thank you for your time..
I really hope this can some how be sorted/ my request can be fulfilled :/ I just want my friend to be able to get in contact with GM Jhanaka about his account, as he(she?) was the one that contacted him in game.

Why was he attempting to hack in the first place? That alone is highly against the TOS and ban worthy. I don't understand why he PURPOSELY hacked the coding and got mad when he was banned. Even if he didn't use any of the gil / items.

Yes i know :/ That's just how he ticks. He likes to tinker with things. But if he didn't, how would of he known it would of worked? He still reported it to them when he was able to spawn such things. Better to have done the hacking, and report it to them and explain how he did it, than to keep it to himself and have people do it behind SE's back.

A few days later after they confronted him in game, Square Enix pushed out a patch that fixed the problem. Though he got caught in the blanket ban in september for still having everything in the retainer when he was told to leave it alone. So, since we were still able to play together a month after it happened, why should he remain banned? He wasn't banned cause of the hacking, he was banned cause he got caught in the blanket bannings SE pushed out. So really.. He shouldn't be banned if they didn't on the spot of reporting and admitting he hacked to Jhanaka :/

It's not so much about him being mad cause he got banned, he was already expecting to be banned on the spot once he reported it, but they didn't ban him. It's more about how bad Square Enix's support is and that their reason for banning him (long with everyone else caught) was for RMT, which isn't the case on his part.

Today he contacted live chat support again, after 2 months of being banned, and still they tell him it's permanent cause of RMT. It's just frustrating >.<

You honestly don't know if that was the reason they banned him. It could have just happened to coincide with the blanket ban they did. You have to look at it this way: if they didn't ban him, that'd be telling anyone they could hack the game and suffer no penalty if they didn't use any items/gil obtained by doing so. They have to enforce the TOS for him the same way they would to someone who used it for gain.

I just don't think they'll accept 'that's just the way he ticks' as a legitimate excuse.

The point is that it is going against the TOS, if SE had said 'we welcome people to use tools to find exploits and report' - that is one thing, but they didnt and your friend decided to anyway.

He knew there was a risk involved in doing what he did and did it anyway, the in-game GM who said 'this will help us' wasnt telling lies, it has probably been sorted already.

Your friend has sacrificed himself for the greater good, maybe his intent was to gain riches through exploits but then thought it would ruin the game for him by becoming a P2W.

Maybe he does where a white hat and wanted to help, if the latter is true he should have emailed them before using 3rd party software, he didnt, so he got banned for it.

It doesnt come any more black and white than that, you agree to TOS and then get punished for going against them? That's just simply how it works

    Thank you much for your support! Makes me happy that more people little by little are in support of him getting unbanned ;.;

He knew that reporting it could get him banned right then and there, he knew. But thing is, he didn't get banned cause of it, he got banned a month later cause of the automated bans they pushed out to anyone that had more than a certain amount of gil. That just tells him, hey, we didn't ban you after the reports, but instead of sweeped up in a automatic ban that you weren't suppose to be in. So that tells us he wasn't suppose to be banned to begin with.

It's not really about "what, why was i banned?! I helped and reported it and everything!", it's more about how SE is handling this and giving him premade copy and pasted replies saying he was banned cause of "RMT activities".

If they wanted him banned, they should of done it then and there after Mister and Jhanaka was done having that in-game conversation, instead of having Mister drop money for another month or so of gametime (i'm pretty sure he did the 90day time after the reporting) and get sweeped up in a automated ban we believe he wasn't suppose to get caught in all because he followed directions and left the gil untouched for a month in his retainer. We are still confused wondering what's the REAL reason he was banned, and "RMT activities" isn't it. If they have even started, or finished their investigation, they could of emailed him by now with a detailed report at least as to why he isn't unbanned yet, and say maybe things like, "well you are still banned because you used X amount of the gil" or something, i don't know. But "RMT activites" isn't going to cut it.

This case isn't being handled very well on SE's part. And i highly doubt it takes almost 2 months to investigate his account and give him a verdict and detailed report as to why he will, or will not be unbanned. And until this gets sorted out with him, good or bad, i will keep posting here and we will not give up.

If Square Enix wants to help him but can't restore his account, at least give him a new code for the pre-order bonuses D: Doubt that would remotely happen though. Sigh.. Never going to finish the main story together. Still going to fight this. If enough people support this, maybe they will unban him :/

I'm going to post something Mister Sirs wants me to post for him, since he can't post it himself..

I am not going to tell everyone on the thread how to feel about what I did. I did what I thought was right by reporting a game breaking exploit I found. I enjoy tinkering with games and I did not use what I found for an advantage over others. I immediately reported my findings and the Senior GM was very appreciative. They can choose how they want to feel but that is off topic from the thread.

I would be less upset if they actually attempted to solve my issue. I have tried contacting the support team in several ways all of which they are very abrupt and honestly, unhelpful and seem to not care. I have saved the conversations with each support member and may use them at a later time but for now I don't think that needs to be shown. Here are some pictures of me talking to the Senior GM about this report however if it will help staff.

All we want is to be able to play together again and for the illegitimately spawned gil to be deleted, which they probably were with the blanket ban. I hope. :/

All I can say is good for you for taking screen shots to cya; however, the ban might be for something else if he is smart enough to break coding. The issue is between him and the GM though, and not you. Be careful posting on another's behalf on something this sensitive (really makes SE look bad if it's proven he is banned still and for this reason), you don't want to get yourself banned as it's against ToS to post on another's behalf.

How is it bad on him if he's trying to help his friend out? if SE is being shady, it deserves to be outed. They have always had horrible customer service. ever since XI i have had nothing but problems with contacting them and getting help on certain things. i once submitted a ticket, got no reply, and then was asked to answer a survey on my help received (or in this case, lack thereof), and then the ticket was closed. it realy seems like SE's Support is not gettin any better.

I understand that, and the risk. This is why i am requesting for a GM to contact him somehow, so him and the GM can work something out.. I'm just posting in hopes of a GM coming in and possibly letting me know on how Mister Sirs can contact the GM. Mister can't do it himself.. He's tried to with live chat and tickets, but they just get generic replies and or told there aren't any superiors he could talk to :/

    The screenshots are in hopes a GM will see them, and be able to spare a few minutes of their time to work it out with Mister via emails, or something that isn't public to avoid any more issues ;.;

If i get banned well.. What am i going to do.. Mister and I already stated what we want :/
