I consider PBC to be a representative sampling of our server population, since their group is so large - likely made up of a good mix of people from all over.

This is your playerbase, SE. These are the people that are paying to experience your content. Give us a way in - we're all FF players here, we expect the grind to achieve. But if we can't even get started, people won't even bother.

We're already past the point of no return. Yoshi won't be able to reduce the prices now, or else the people who bought one with 600+mil gil will be very upset. Japanese devs won't do this.

at this rate maybe they should....

erm what exactly do you think a community rep from a company is? it is a person who is usually part of a group of people who are paid to represent the company to the community. hence the name community rep

Not really, they can always adjust the depreciation rate. (which they should have done in the first place).

If they actually had 14% and not .14% rate, and then slap a "sell out", open up a 2nd instance, reset the price of the first sale and quarter the depreciation rate, it would get the markets flowing to a "market price".

    Basically SE sucks at math

Anyone in business, marketing, advertisement, government, etc, etc, etc can come up with better policy then this toxic spill.

I'd be fine with it if they let it get to like 25% of the total value after 90 days, and put those 10,000g allagan pieces in the game.... and made the beastmen dailies drop like 15-25 of those 57g beastmen currencies every few minutes.... that'd be a start....overall, that price is just absurd though

In my opinion (which is, of course, debatable, as is every other opinion) most people seem to see the housing feature from a wrong perspective.
However, you could call me prejudiced, because I played FFXI for a long time and when I started with XIV 1.0 I've been missing my mog house from the very beginning. Hell, I wrote alpha-test reports demanding a mog house back in 2010.

Now they announced housing and I thought: "Yay, not only my mog house again, but a mog house flatshare with my friends!" (Maybe some remember that it took years until you could invite friends into your mog house in XI)

So: Why do you insist that housing is a privilege?
It is not - it should not be and isn't in any other MMO I know.

    (Continued below - stupid limit..)

Honestly though, I think if the big house is buyable from the get go, there's something very wrong with the way they designed it.. I like the current price scheme =)

Having a large house with a marble staircase and little turrets can be. For all I care you can get a flaming roof if you defeat Ifrit EX 500 times.
I'll never have THE ultra mega endgame item you have to grind months for. But that's fine; that's just not my play style - I have my own (smaller) goals here. If you have it I'll do you the favour and go "ooohh, I wish I had a staff as cool as yours..!" and "ooohh, look at that palace over there..!"

But most hardcore endgame players care less about housing than casuals.

I wanted a nice little house for my casual 4-people-FC so we have something to meet and work on and decorate over the next months (or years). Nothing more.

Another solution is that they could remove the bottom limit from the Dutch Auction, so combined with the faster depreciation you suggested, within a more reasonable time, prices would get down to where the market is for any remaining inventory. *And* this could potentially be done only for the small plots, to encourage an entry point into the content.

We understand that the initial prices for housing are extremely high, but this is a patch filled with a lot of content, so as you are having fun and enjoying everything the price will come down.
    Are you joking????

Naoki Yoshida ruined crystal tower with an incoérent alliance system
    NY ruined the housing system
NY ruined legacy server reputation with this "hight cost' tag ! No new players will come ! No new players from STEAM or PS4 will come on legacy servers !

NY have not thought about that on the legacy servers there are also many players who are not from version 1, they are like players on "low cost" serveur !

NY made segregation and discrimination servers! This is serious! It is never-seen in mmorpg
