These I have both done, also this is a fresh windows install, fully reformatted from the ground up with only release ARR being downloaded on it. It's been a steady issue since beta. some say it's due to fast ISP's others due to firewall or admin issues. Every patch i delete my firewall and every trace of it, and use take ownership of everything as well as admin privileges. It's just an ongoing issue, that the only cure so far for myself has been to get the updated files from someone and physically overwrite my old FF folder. This is also a PS3 issue too, where some PS3 players never get to play the game they bought due to this.

well got mine to work, tried an old method that did not work before and it did now. Downloaded the game in safe mode with networking. my steps.

In normal windows mode, go to run type MSconfig open it, then go to start up and disable up. Click okay and restart during the restart click f8 before windows loads and it should bring you to the boot screen. Choose safe mode with networking, once it loads load FFXIV up ad admin and nothing else and let it patch. Mine went all the way through first go after hours of trying. Hope this helps.

I got the error message that the patch was unable to be completed. I closed out, restarted my computer, re-opened FFXIV and tried to log in again. Now, for the last several hours, it's given me "The game is unavailable for play during maintenance." What the heck is going on? I deleted the patch folders, but it hasn't helped. What should I do, if anything? Anyone else experiencing the same message? Are they really doing maintenance on the game, or is it just me?

Are you kidding? Yes, there's maintenance for potentially another 6 hours.

If you are getting that message "unavailable during maintenance" where the Play button normally is, you are patched and ready to go. Hope you haven messed up anything by deleting patch folders. :O

JillyBean, it didn't come up with the "We will be performing maintenance...blah blah blah" thing, so I wasn't sure. I wasn't able to get to Lodestone, for some reason, to see it. And don't worry, I was able to restore the patch folders from my recycle bin. Sad that they have another 6 hours to go, though. Hopefully, no more problems after that.

I have the same problem too. It sucks that I have to re-download everything over and over again. I tried to delete the folder and it did not work.

Hey, did you try running the updater in safe mode with networking?

At the install folder, inside there is 2 folders called boot and game. Go to properties, sercurity, advanced/ First change permissions to every account has full control over that folder, Apply/ Second go to the Owner tab and make sure the account you use has ownership over the folder and before clicking apply, at the bottom left of the window there is a check box to apply to all subcontainers and objects(check it), Apply/

This requires you're the administrator on the pc with full access to everything, run the launcher in administrative mode just in case after this. Perhaps apply both these settings to both folders, boot is the important one though.

Notes: install folders can vary, why I didn't specify a location, usually is located in C:/Program Files (x86)/Square Enix/*****
If its not there try the normal Program Files, if not there. Right click the icon on your desktop, in the menu select Open file location.
If it for some reason doesn't work, I can perhaps provide alternatives to getting it instead, may or may not be more of a hassle though to install hue hue.
