It looks like it's the entire game with update already installed, I had to use a rar like that when i first downloaded the game due to the patcher. I just opend the .RAR and copied all of the boot and game folder to my file and over write and it worked.

My roommate is downloading the torrent, so I'll just copy his whole FFXIV folder later.
I think the main point here is, though, is that we shouldn't have to resort to torrents, or getting the folder from somewhere else. This has been an issue since beta, and SE has yet to even acknowledge this issue. I don't want to see this thread die because everyone uses torrent/friend mooching workarounds. =/
I love this game to death, but the customer support is garbage. A resolution for a tech call should not be "Sorry, check the forums for any workarounds player's find."

Just cleaned disks (system[over2Gb] and game and "..\Users\..\Documents..") and client was update normally.
Although before that tried everything.

Not sure if this will help or just coincidence, I got the same error when updating, after the error i just went to program files and modified my squareEnix folder. In properties go to securities, select ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES under groups or username and set allow full control. I then restarted and re-downloaded. It finished this time. Hope this helps!![]()
Already did that a while ago. No go. Literally i tried everything from trying to reinstall the game, to using google dns, to running in compatibility, and the list goes on. This literally needs a tech from se to try to figure out. All these suggestions on the net I have tried.

I cant find my char on balmung anyone have that issue cant find anything on it

Just posting to say that I am also getting this error. Have tried deleting whatever is in the patch folder. Disabling firewall/anti-virus, and being in network safe mood. No dice so far. (Also running as Admin)

It is a check sum error, the issue is simply that it waits too long to do a check sum. There really isn't anything that they can do about this other than making it do check sums more often, it is files getting corrupted during transfer. Has nothing to do with their customer support.
I got the same message when trying to download the patch. First I had about half of 2.1 downloaded and then it came up with an error. I tried again and got the above message. Now all I get is a black login screen.
