omg guys just google it...
I agree it would be nice if it was more exciting and active! ^_^ FFXI was my first MMO and I left it because I tried other MMOs with more active combat systems, where you didn't just stand in one spot for 2 minutes and gain TP and come back from watching TV and use a weapon skill (literally, 80% of the time, when the mob moved around, the melee would still be standing there, not attacking because they were AFK and it was out of LoS).I never really played with a group in Mabinogi. I only ever duoed so I'm no expert on the game mechanics. But I think FFXIV doesnt need to go so far as to create the game around a CoD-style skillset like TERA. It just needs to not be so boring!
I would welcome a system like Blade&Soul where the ineraction with the character models (hit boxes) and the interaction with the environment are important factors just as much as "how strong one's stats are".
One of the things I look forward to in new MMOs is the advancement of the combat system, and one of the reasons why I didn't like rift was because the combat system was literally completely like WoW. But hey, I guess that is one of the reasons they had such a great launch, as apparently advancements of core game features don't matter to that many people, they just want the same thing over and over again with improved graphics and a different story.
On a side note, I really like the THM AOE casting mechanic where your attacks hit where you aim at, it would be nice to see more of these things in the future. I originally thought, for some reason, that FFXIV would have more interaction with the environment, but that ended up not being the case. It would be cool if, for example, earth spells and attacks were stronger underground and water attacks were more powerful near/in water.
The spell thing you mentioned sounds cool but don't mobs with the same element usually stay close to water and earthy ect? Look @ crabs and moles and antling and stuff. They should bring back Weather and day of the week spell bonus tho like darksday + double dark weather gave outstanding resultsI agree it would be nice if it was more exciting and active! ^_^ FFXI was my first MMO and I left it because I tried other MMOs with more active combat systems, where you didn't just stand in one spot for 2 minutes and gain TP and come back from watching TV and use a weapon skill (literally, 80% of the time, when the mob moved around, the melee would still be standing there, not attacking because they were AFK and it was out of LoS).
