It was the only content that did not require artificial lock-outs to keep people doing it week after week. Many hoped to spend their downtime doing things for the FC house or just hanging out there. So much for that idea. Apparently, SE doesn't believe we have enough mindless grind.

I've been playing MMOs since 2000. there's only one MMO I've played and liked in the past that ACTUALLY 'didn't make it: The Chronicles of Spellborn.

Spellborn broke my heart. So many cool ideas. Really sucks how they just stopped communicating and dropped off the face of the earth.

I mean we can all remember things they did while they were young that were incredibly stupid.

None of those "big baddies" really have housing. EQ might, I haven't played it in several years now. What is this housing fiasco you speak of? The prices for the FC houses? You mean the thing 200 people can buy together? The thing that has abolutely no impact on game play?

It's not the fact that they have it or not. What really kills an MMO is the developer making a promise and hyping a new feature or content and then completely failing at implementing it.

LOL really? FFXI which I still sub to and have been playing for the past 11 years, is one of the longest subscription based MMO's in existence, even before WoW.

I said "FFXI is one of the longest running subscription based MMO's in existence" How many MMO's out there have held onto the monthly fee subscription plan for more than 11 years? FFXI is by far one of the longest.

Whenever FFXI is mentioned the XIV community has a way of just..brushing it off like it was never a successful or long running MMO and that XIV ARR is the best MMO to ever exist lol. It's really hard to deny that. MMOs 12 years ago was fairly niche since whenever you mention you played an MMO people would look at you funny and wonder why you're not playing x console game or CS.

Nowadays MMO are as common as mario games.

People whining 'OH HOUSING IS TOO EXPENSIVE' and pissing and moaning because they can't buy it right away are really tiresome.

Expecting to buy a house straight away is like a young adult moving out of his parents into a new built house of their own. If you really think that's how it's going to be then you have a rough day coming...

Learn to save money, spend it carefully, and work for something. These numbers they have houses selling at is not over the top or overwhelming. It's realistic and provides those who purchase it with a sense of accomplishment.

This choice by SE will actual secure the success of this game in my view. Those who quit because of it? Don't let the door hit you on the way out but I don't encourage you to leave. I plea for you to stay and really drive to accomplish this feat.
