The original idea for this game was to be able to swap, wherever you are, to any class by simply changing your weapon. The 'distinguishing' difference between FFMMO's (so far) is being able to level all classes on one character. Then SE comes up with things like this, where you have to choose between stat points for one class instead of by job. So now you're limiting the jobs you can play. Then to further this we're locked out on gear/tomes per character instead of per class which is completely backwards with being able to level everything on one character. The way it stands now I'd prefer to just have a faster grind and have multiple characters. Then at least when I hit the 'gear wall' each week I could play a few hours on another character gearing that. However, this isn't actually a possibility due to how long the main quest is(read: I couldn't bring myself to go through it again on another character).
