    It'd be a waste of time for both development teams, if you knew the amount of time it would take to make these adjustments, just for the sake of FFXIV's one-time e-peen vanity event.

    But /opinions/.

    It wasn't meant to be a lecture, more an insight into the fact that it's not as simple as 'BOOBICUS-DISSAPEARICUS' here we go, now Lightnings body can fit on male characters.

    You're right, I can't prove it, but do you think that a quest you've already completed would re-appear again?

    If you finish and get your outfit at the end of it, do you really think Square Enix will set the quest to repeat?

    I don't, hence my reason for this entire thread.

    IF, you're right and they do i'd be happy, but the chances are so slim that i'd rather they give some sort of insight into it.

    One thing I just proved actually was that if you do the first quest as a male character, then use your Phantasia the quest does NOT reflag.
    So changing genders doesnt re-flag it I highly doubt February will.

    Can confirm this, I tried it as well with an alt.
    It's pretty silly to just not have a method of getting both - Like the previous events have.

    Correlation without causation. Just because swapping genders didn't reset the quest doesn't mean or imply that SE won't proactively reset the quests for the re-running of the event. The only thing it DOES mean is that the quests are not seperate by gender and/or clearing one locks out the other.

    Since you did a gender swap though, I would like to know if you did it in the middle of the quest chain, and if so, did the subsequent quests yet to be completed end up giving the original gender items or the new ones?

    Foresight is something Squeenix has repeatedly demonstrated they lack. Don't count on it.

I was already aware that the quests weren't separated by gender I just sought out to make 100% sure.

    The process was;

    1 - Make male character in Limsa
    2 - Level to 12, obtain quest.
    3 - Complete Fate, return complete quest, recieve male gloves.
    4 - Log out, use Phantasia to become female, return to see if the quest has been re-flagged.
    5 - Unsuccessful.
    6 - Subsequent quests obviously offered the female gear.

    All the quest does is a simple Boolean check once clicked;

    if; gender is (male) quest_reward_set_1 (item no)
    otherwise; gender is (female) quest_reward_set_2 (item no)

    And more recently, using a Phial of Fantasia on my legacy character yielded the same result, even after deleting the Lightning gear.

    So i'm pretty sure that square enix aren't going to reflag quest quest seeing as so far in ARR they haven't re-flagged a single one, doing so would encounter the same problem with the AF quest for legacy players where-in they would obtain two gears of gear, for the few people that have encountered the issue i'm having it wouldn't be worth resetting for everyone.

    The only reason I have this thread up is to find out the following;

    Are we going to be able to do the quest again in February?
    If not;
    Are we going to be able to exchange our items for another gender?

    How does it not make logical sense? If they run the event again, you get to play it again. This was true for many event quests throughout FFXI's history. You can't say with such confidence it won't happen because it HAS happened in the past.

    There isn't even the slightest bit of harm in doing it either- the worst thing that can happen is you don't get a reward for doing it the second time.

    I guarantee you that next summer you'll be able to get more wet bombard ash and buy more fireworks n stuff with it. In the cases in XI where the event changed from the previous version, the items from the previous version were made avialable for purchase with gil. I understand the cynic in you is telling you SE wouldn't do it just because it would be a nice thing to do, but that is not a valid argument or reason for the opinion.

    The EVENT runs again. So for those that miss the event have the change to participate again.

    It will be the exact same event that will open itself again.

    Think of it as them turning Costa Del Sol off for an afternoon and turning it back on again, will your progress rest on all the quest you did there? No.

    Your comparison to the summer-gear isn't applicable it was purchased via a vendor there was no quest, this is a quest which from the evidence the game has provided thus far will not be re-flagged.

    It IS a valid argument, the ""inner-cynic"" in me would rather express my feeling on the matter than being the optimist going "OH BOY LETS WAIT TILL FEBRUARY, ALHANELEME SAID THE QUEST WILL REFLAG" when its too late to do something about it.

    I would rather have an explanation or an insight into this, what portion of this is hard for you to understand?

    Why are you comparing the event quests in XI to those in XIV?
    The event quests in XI were made to be repeatable - instantly repeatable. As soon as I completed the quest, I could do it again right away, literally the second after finishing it.
    The event quests in XIV do not work the same way. After finishing the Lightning/Halloween quest, you cannot restart them.
    I fail to understand why you're using this as an argument. Additionally, you're comparing trading some ash into an NPC to completing a quest, they are very different.
