gotta agree, SMN is about 2x harder to play than a BLM

I thought BLM already was the best
But the Producer was talking like when the update comes Dragoon will be the go to dps.
Myself i have played with Summoners and they do great damage, it comes down to the player i guess

I think the change to Bards is more necessary for PvP more than anything. In a PvE setting they'll get crushed by a boss if they overaggro. I've never cared for PvP changes slipping into PvE, but in this case it kinda has to be done. Besides, it doesn't sound like they're changing Bards mechanically, just changing their cross-class abilities as to reduce their damage some, as it wouldn't be fair to have all of those abilities that raise your damage and still be able to "gun on the run" from people in PvP.
I've played summoner a bit and it requires a lot more micromanagement than any other class I've played. (I'm sure scholar requires the same level of play by micromanaging your pet if you choose to do so) Sure, I could just let my pet do whatever it wants, but I'd be playing less than optimal if I did so. I've deferred to playing BLM over SMN just because it's easier and still puts out competent damage.

Hmm, can't say this ever happened to me. I use contagion when it's available again. My pet never casts it if he's on Obey. Here is the problem with the AI. You put your pet to obey, it will only use 1 of its 4 skills, Wind Blade.
A good summoner will cast Bio/bio2/miasma/thunder and manually press contagion afterwards to prolong all 4 dots (use raging strikes before hand if available). Now, you pressed contagion on your pet, and now he is screwed up and will cast contagion on cooldown (not on command).

Concur. From what I've been able to gather from Squa's posts, he isn't super good at playing SMN. In his words, 'it is too hard'.
If Garuda ever does anything but Wind Blade after you tell her to Contagion, it wasn't on Obey.

Only trouble I ever have in that regard is with Garuda leaving steady and getting overzealous with her cooldowns before I notice. Usually I just mash obey repeatedly as soon as a fight starts to make sure she doesn't misbehave and that tends to work fine.

If she's on Steady she shouldn't do a damn thing until you tell her something. So if you have her on steady and then use Contagion she will set to Sic. What you should do is steady her on summon and press Obey at the start of the first encounter. She'll stay in obey until she gets re-summoned or you specifically hit sic.

Why complain about something that benefits your group?
Not saying SMN needs a nerf, but you can't continually buff things.
Power creep and all that.
It doesn't matter if it benefits the group if it's detrimental to the game.
I mean, having god mode is beneficial to the group, but does that make it right with the intentions of the game?

She'll only set to Sic after you use Contagion if she was on Sic before Contagion. If you Obey, kill some crap, Steady, Contagion, she will be on Obey still. You only need to set Obey once, and all the back and forth between Steady and Guard will not change whether she is on Obey vs Sic, she'll stay on Obey.If she's on Steady she shouldn't do a damn thing until you tell her something. So if you have her on steady and then use Contagion she will set to Sic. What you should do is steady her on summon and press Obey at the start of the first encounter. She'll stay in obey until she gets re-summoned or you specifically hit sic.
If someone ever says they used Contagion and Garuda went into Sic mode, it means Garuda was in Sic mode to start with.
