Reason why DF people fail Titan

I realize my story is about the story mode Titan because I just happened to do it on an alt, but I think it's relevant.

I was in a group for Titan normal and explaining the fight to them. Of course, I expected some wipes, but I repeatedly told them to stay out of the red circle around the outside of the field and it took them 3 deaths due to falling off to figure it out. The tank on the other hand repeatedly ran into the middle and took massive damage from Titan landing, dying twice from it. The tank also spammed Rage of Halone. Not comboing it, spamming it. The worst part is that we won. People can progress through training content without learning a thing and it shows at lvl 50.

I would have to say the biggest complication with DF titan fights is because they are mostly firsts for trying to beat, and because DF does not give a good setup with the amount of dps required on the fight. there is absolutely no reason to have 2 tanks in Titan, one is taking away precious dps. Secondly it does not decide on what type of healers or mix of healers you will have. Everyone by now knows that you want 1 tank, 1 whm , 1 sumn and 5 strong dps.. Not 2 tanks , 2 whm and 4 dps as the DF will likely give you.


It can be done ofc with 2 tanks and 2 whm and only 4 dps, but that usually only occurs when everyone is geared up above par for fight and has beat it before.. those are chances you dont see often in DF.

It's just a shame that at times it's impossible to dodge unless you know something is coming, personally I can't dodge a weight unless I know it's on the rotation.

it's a shame one of the harder fights in the game just comes down to memorizing his pattern because if you don't then your boned.

Don't think the 2 tank setup is that much of a problem in DF Titan tbh, with the state of the DPS players i've seen in there I wouldn't be at all surprised if the OT's were out parsing them.

Anyway, 4 under geared DPS players that have a 76.54% chance of being dead before heart phase is much more of a problem than any party setup.

I was under the impression that most people fail DF Titan HM because of a lack of patience.

In the many times I did Titan HM just to try and learn the mechanics, I got the distinct feeling that most people went into DF Titan expecting to get an awesome group and get carried through it. Get wiped once or twice and people start dropping, unwilling to reassess the situation and try to make things work.

This and so much more. I have lost count as to the amount of groups that have simply just...given up. Doesn't matter how close they get, one and done for most it seems. Patience is a virtue that many simply don't possess. Some even leave before the fight even starts claiming the party isn't geared enough...which is unfortunately something I have to admit is true at least half of the time.

People giving up is definitely one of the problems in new content (i.e. within 3 months of it becoming available), not being able to take replacements is the final blow. I've even had a party that could consistently down the heart, then the off-tank (warrior) quits, and then a DD quits, then a healer, then 2 DDs and that was it.

I don't really know why primal fights prohibit replacements. Perhaps it was to force people to stick with a party. But that is not consistent with the design of DF. DF is a efficiency machine. It is all about efficiency. But it's replacement policies are anything but efficient. For example, no replacements in primal fights, and then there's making in-progress matching an opt-in.

If it really was about efficiency, it should have allowed replacements in primal fights, and make in-progress matching an inherent default (first timers get new instances obviously). That would have be the most efficient.

Perhaps what it really is about, is the efficiency on the server of making matches, not the efficiency for players. In that case the current design is understandable.

DF Titan HM is fine the way it is. People expect to run DF Titan HM several times. It's where you learn from mistakes without over bearing elitists running you in to the mud for doing so.

The unfortunate part is, you don't really have that much to learn.
