Reason why DF people fail Titan

Wasted LB on Titan...what were they expecting to use, Healer LB3? Everyone usually just dies right after it (next stomp normally, but if the heal has really bad timing anything else could do it). And for a finishing melee LB...it really doesn't matter if its 2 or 3...you save what...two or three of his attacks? If the DPS is high enough, that really shouldn't matter at all...

I play it by ear, really...depends on how we're doing when the second Jail goes down. If we looks like we'll be good, no LB. If I want to play it safe, LB. If we need it...LB.
And you can always tell the group "I'm a DRG, its normally my job to LB the Heart. You never said anything, so I'm going with what most other groups do"; sure, it'll make someone upset, but maybe they'll actually say something next time...

I think garuda fight is a tough enough fight to open people's eyes. Titan is more like a connection check if anything.

well you can eat a plume or 2 if your armor is ok, undergeared means you have less HP and die .

Healer has bad gear , heals are weaker .
DPS bad gear , dps weak .
Tank bad gear , healer has to work harder which makes healing under geared dps even harder .

Basically the better gear you have the easier it is . But gear alone isn't going to win , you need to beable to actually use that gear .

A FC was offering to help people past Titan for tips. I was having difficulty so I accepted the offer. Does that mean I suck? Nope. I can dodge Titan just fine. During the fight I held my own, just got clipped by a couple of big plumes. Other players were holding me back. Should I be punished because someone else can't play? Carries aren't all bad. FCs that charge ridiculous amounts of Gil.......well that's another matter.

just an FYI, using LB on heart is not a universally agreed upon rule. I used LB on heart once and got bitched at because our dps was so high, it was wasted. So by trying to be responsible and safe, i got bitched at. instead of complaining about other people's play style, make an effort to communicate more.

Were they primarily DRG, or did they have other classes at 50?

I did Titan for about 7 or 8 times through the DF before finally downing it. Since I'm a tank, I've had the opportunity to observe why each party failed it.

One party got Titan to 20% with everyone surviving and then healer died to landslide and things fell apart. After that people quit.

About 3 to 4 parties had trouble getting through the heart phase, only one of them was due to really insufficient dps, the rest were DDs dying to various things.

The biggest problem I can see is the fact that Ifrit can be stunned. Most DF nowadays want all Eruptions stunned. So people progress through that without ever learning to maintain dps/hps while moving. Garuda has no such traps and all it tests is people's ability to attack whatever is marked. (Indeed I've had a party that was unable to find out for themselves which adds to kill first, until I mark it for them.) But in Titan, none of the damage can be stunned.

There's no "big jump" in difficulty in Titan like some people like to think. Weight of the Land and Landslides have equivalents in Ifrit already; bombs are just a twist from the Garuda cyclones. The only new element in the Titan fight is the gradually increasing healing pressure. Yet from my experience healers are rarely the failure point in DF Titan HM.

I'd guess it's just that people are used to taking the easy way out of Ifrit and Garuda that they've always being behind the difficulty curve.

And finally there's the latency issue. That has nothing to do with skill and there's nothing anyone can do about it short of getting a paid tunneling service.

It's definitely not a connection check. It's a server side massive lag problem. Square really needs to work on their instance servers.

Exactly. I play FPS games and I don't have a problem with magic bullets. Titan I range from lots of time to get out of plumes to must be running before they start or get hit. Just last night I ran through titan and saw I was running into someone elses plume and was able to then run a different direction and was fine. Worst I have had was last week when I got landslided while using a flank attack... I was the target of the landslide, I ran over to his flank, hit my attack and then got blown off the edge. Those two things should never be possible but it happened. I have also seen people get hit with bombs there where standing with me.

Watch the kind of stuff that happens in Coil on monday/tuesday. Abilities wont go off.... silences wont go through... bosses will decide to take a walk mid fight for no apparent reason. Personal favorite so far there was last week when the tank spawned a slime while not on the tile for spawning them. Tank didn't see it, no one else in the raid saw it but me.

Once you have done it enough you can get a feel for how long you have and figure out if LB is needed. It also depends on who gets hit with the gaols. If he gets dps both times and/or picks the top dps in the group there is a much higher chance it will be needed. Don't think I have ever needed it if healers got jailed.

I was under the impression that most people fail DF Titan HM because of a lack of patience.

In the many times I did Titan HM just to try and learn the mechanics, I got the distinct feeling that most people went into DF Titan expecting to get an awesome group and get carried through it. Get wiped once or twice and people start dropping, unwilling to reassess the situation and try to make things work.
