I honestly don't understand why you even bought that up.
Devil May Cry, aside from perhaps the newest one, doesn't have different endings/cutscenes depending on the difficulty you're playing on. That sort of behavior is seen more in RPG's, such as Kingdom Hearts, Fire Emblem, etc. I think even a few Tales games have done it from time to time, actually...

The only thing down there is Louisoix, Nael van Darnus, and a big frozen dragon. Nothing new about that at all.

It's not pointless. Knowing that there is content, but "innaccessible" due to scheduling issues, skill issues or group issues and knowing that "they will beat it in four months" (or whatever is the date of 2.2) is demotivating.
Other MMORPGs are adopting multiple difficulty settings (the first being WoW - earned them 12m subs when they did...), I don't see why we couldn't have it in the future.

So what you're after is instant gratification then. You neither want to put in the work/practice or wait for nerfs. The nerf is already in the game's design plan.

I'm agreeing with the OP here. I am not that good at fast paced combat. It takes me a very, very long time to recognize and respond to patterns. I've never been able to beat the first mini-boss in Metroid Prime (yeah, the one on the N64) and that still makes me a little upset. I'm just not that great with video games. But, I do love them. I love RPG's, and older games that aren't as fast paced, reaction and timing based.

In most cases in ffxiv, I get through things fine. I enjoy crafting, and at least up to Stone Vigil, which I played last night, I've been a pretty good tank. I do not want things handed to me, and obviously don't want instant gratification (see above, where I've been playing since launch, but just now got to Stone Vigil). I'm perfectly fine knowing that it'll take me longer to get any darklight pieces, and that I'll probably not get into Coil until they do nerf it. I'm here for the story, and the world, and to have shared housing with my husband. However, it would be really nice if I could play through an easier form of the dungeon, even with zero rewards, just so I can get those missing pieces of the story for me and my character. So, I guess, yeah, I do want things handed to me, but those things are just the storyline parts. Rewards in the form of gear can go to everyone else and I'm fine with that.

Edit: also to add to the WoW factor they have 4 raid difficulties now which does nothing but make you grind the SAME RAID 4 times a week which killed raiding, LFR was the worst thing to happen to WoW everyone whined "I didnt get to see what happens waaaa" and now everyone has to do the same raid multiple times just for gear.

There HAS TO BE something that requires hard work to achieve otherwise what in the hell is the point? This sense of entitlement and inability to just commit 2 hours a week is pathetic, you don't have to do all of coil in one week, do turn 1, see it, next week join a pug on turn 2, rinse repeat til you see the whole thing and that is very possible since you are already handed Myth gear which is more then enough to do coil.

Honestly I don't feel there is a *need* for easy mode for 'story purposes'. I understand that some content is difficult for some people (I haven't cleared turn 5), and sometimes it's not entirely their fault (minimal latency between them and the servers). However the "main story" as it stands does not revolve around Bahamut, rather around the 3 primal avatars, and the Weapon. This story is fairly neatly tied up with a bow when you finish Prae.

I DO wish the story was drawn out a bit more as the pace of content from 0-30 was slow, 30-45 moderate, and 45-50 do-everything-at-once.
The story that goes along with Coil is fairly neatly explained in turn 1 as soon as you defeat ADS, and unless I'm seriously missing something there isn't really a strong tie in for the rest of Coil (after turn 5 finishes maybe?).

So with all that... if you get to level 50, complete the main storyline, defeat the hard-mode primals (accomplishable at ilvl60, although ilvl70 makes this much easier), enter coil, defeat ADS (first mini boss) and watch the cut-sceens you're all caught up.

WOW understand that 90% of players base never get to the see raid content they make due to difficulty level to high why they make multiple difficulty level so that everyone get to enjoy the content at same time not waiting some kind of nerfed. WOW dev make right decision cuz not everyone born with same talents and skill at same time they pay same sub so no reason why they can't enjoy like everyone. your game will fail if you design difficulty base on top 10% players base and dismiss the rest of players base.

If WoW understood that then they wouldnt of made Easy faceroll raid modes drop loot, if everyone claims they want to see the story then have easy mode not drop anything.

The Story actually did end @ Praetorium for "casuals", a huge chunk of bridge (Crystal tower) was missing @ launch to allow "casuals" to enter coil freely to continue the story

    just wait till 2.1

No, you are not telling the whole truth.

You needed to finish it to finish the Argon War content expansion of the game, the main story ended with Keshiak's Nest. Also you needed to finish the hard mode for the longest time, not the normal mode and if it's normal mode now that was a change made in an update well after the content was released.

So if you want this to be like Tera, Coil 1-5 will be nerfed 6-12 months after the content came out so everyone can appreciate the story either directly, through gear or through the release of an easy mode. SE has stated that old content will get nerfed, so there is no suggestion to make here you just have to wait.
