I get why they want the AF to not be dyed. That is just the iconic images of FF (except no idea what they where thinking with this version of the black mage). But what is so iconic about Darklight, Allagan, and other Dungeon loot? Darklight looks nothing like Final Fantasy to me, more like a want to be Assassins Creed or dark gloomy generic fantasy RPG.

Also, it would be much more epic if the "Iconic" gear was the more rare to get. The awesomeness of a white mage robe is lost in the crowd of many and one that will just be put away after a few WP runs.

Actually by the time I left SWTOR you where practically required to make a customized outfit to properly min/max your player. The best default endgame gear had subpar stats, making them little more then something to harvest mod parts from and place in your custom costume.

Don't think I'd want the SWTOR vanity system, as it was a bit clunky and currency sink heavy. But I would love a system as flexible as it became. FF14 has completely fallen behind the times with vanity pushed 6 months post release and total overkill dye restrictions.

This would be okay if crafted gear was competitive to current gear, but it isn't and the Devs seem to want to keep it that way. It would be okay if crafted gear had more unique looks instead of the same look recycled again and again for a twenty-level section, but it doesn't and the Devs seem to want to keep it that way.

The two things that would want us to equip crafted gear do not seem to even be on the radar for the Devs, that's why we want more control over the dye options for high level dungeon gear.

From things i've picked up on reading dev posts, ect.. it's not about iconic looks at all; Rather, it's about the people in the art department wanting us to appreciate their work... Which to me, is like one child telling another that he's not playing with his toys the right way.

I appreciate the work they did just fine, but i would appreciate it more if it was a different colour.

What SWTOR "became"? You mean microtransactions for everything and most of development going towards making microtransaction items? Yeah, I'd love for XIV to become a game where playing the game doesn't matter - just pocketing IRL money for anything cool.

Yet the gear in AK and WP is literally just recycles of lower level gear which is already dyeable.

What good will the vanity system be since only some of the gear will be able to be dyed? Sure we can mix and match armor looks...but it's still default looks color wise. There would be A LOT more variety if all or most gear had the ability to be dyed and being able to use the vanity system.

No I did not mean that what so ever. At what point did I bring up SWTOR's kooky F2P model? The flexible gear customization existed for months before the game went F2P. Talk about reading what you want to see.

I understand certain gewr like grand company uniform not being dyeable.

But there shouldn't be a reason for the rest of the common gear to not be dyable. Hopefully this will be addressed in the future

If certain gear is meant to be iconic, dyeing it works against it.

Oh, I missed where you specified the exact date period of SWTOR you were talking about, and not anything before nor anything after. Clearly my bad for not realizing your meant the mythical period of time (whatever that was) where SWTOR didnt suck.

Though i have a high chance of feeding a troll, i will act (for the moment) that you're not.

Anyone that has ever played SWTOR, and experienced it's equipment system would know that as you got closer to max level, you acquired gear that had no stats of it's own but all of it's stats came from "Mods" that were slotted into the armour as if you were socketing materia.

From the point that a person found their preferred look, they would pull the "Mods" out of new armour they found and set them into the armour they liked, there-for making the items both fashionable (for the player) and useful for their end-game.

This system was in place long before the game even hinted at it's F2P or cash-shop options. If you have never played the game, ask for clarification rather than handing out snark and confusing it with wit.
